Hampshire wanted him last year, would obviously welcome the move but more out of hope than expectation. An attack of Jones and Tremlett is the sort of thing we would need to mount a serious title challenge (plus a batsman or two) but the chances of them ever both being fully fit at the same time for more than 5 minutes is so remote it is not really hoping for. Long term suceess is going to depend on us finally producing some players of real quality, something we are showing glimpses of doing.

Hasn't Carberry done quite well this season? He had put together some good scores when I last checked, but that was a while ago now so have no idea how things have gone since.

Yeah he is having a very good season, been in great form of late, two hundreds in the last couple of weeks. Not enough others contributing to do any better than mid table though. Think we will avoid relegation fairly comfortably though and think the FP final is 50/50

Seems to be the same old story then, ever since I have started watching the middle order seems to be the weak link in the side, even when Michael Clarke was a part of the side they still seemed to struggle. Like you say though, I think they are only one or two players away from really mounting a serious challenge (a middle order batsman who can score reguarly being the top priority I would have thought).

Yeah especially as Crawley is no longer the player he was. Bowling also a little short, obviously miles away from the standard of Durham, if Tremlett could stay fit that would be a great help. Have hopes for the youngsters though, very well represented at under 19 levels, will have to wait and see how they develop.

I always wanted Craig Spearman to end up at Hants, would have been a near perfect player for them really, but that ship has sailed.

gonna go to the Lancs- Yorkshire game on the 1st. As my Yorkshire supporting acquaintance has pointed out this is Yorkshire day, It will be even more enjoyable when we smash the ****s, might go on the 2nd as well if its nice as the times are doing a promo for that weeks games whereby if you buy a copy of the times you get in for free.

NB this applies to all county games on those dates (30 july-3 August), so everyone should get down and support their counties.

I know the test is on these days but, iirc last week they showed the test live on the big screen at OT and there's always the tv's in the pavilion (IIRC for County championships games there is no restricted access for the pavilion at OT)

Another 100 for Amla. Season average now over 125 and his scored nigh on 400 first class runs in just 15 days, 5 innings. Remarkable.

Yes ttboy good but not much good when your bowling side can't bowl the opposition for under 500,they should have got a bowler instead.

Langer 52 * how many more runs does he need to break the dons record of all time first class cricket run scorer for australian cricket,he must be close.

It's six of one, half dozen of the other.

Before Amla, Essex couldn't score a run (he was only their second centurion this season when he made hay on debut) and when he goes, they will get a wicket taking bowler back but then lose over 35% (+) of their innings runs.
