Interesting to see Liam Dawson oppening in place of the injured Carberry, going well on 55 and I hope he goes on but it seems further indication that Hampshire see his future role as a batsman who bowls ocassionaly and it usefull in limited overs cricket, I know he has struggled with the ball this year but I think it would be a real shame if that happens. Young spinner Danny Briggs making his FC debut today, makes it two players from the Isle of Wight in the side.

If the Rose Bowl wicket is anything like the one used in the Pro40 game, Imran Tahir should take a hatful. The hapless Omari Bank is doing ok on it which would only encourage the Hampshire spinners.

Certainly hope so, the fact they picked Briggs suggests they expect it to turn. Tahir has hardly got a wicket at the Rose Bowl all season but if we are going to stay up then we need pitches that are going to suit him

Floodlight problems from what I can gather. Seems the wind is too strong to enable them to work. It may not even be 27 a side, the side batting second will be subject to the vagaries of Duckworth Lewis.

Sky will stop covering games at Canterbury at this rate. I wonder if Kent are giving out refunds.

Yeah, I wouldn't be very happy if I'd spent my £15 expecting to see 80 overs and was told I might only see 37. At least the sun's shining atm, should be able to play until 7.45 or later.

Would it be wrong and immature of me to hope Steven Davies' career goes doen the pan now the turncoat has left Worcestershire at the first possible chance? :@ :baby:

Pah the hell with it. Heres to Surrey getting stuffed next year! :pissed:
Not so bothered about Gareth Batty though?

He clearly doesn't fancy Division 1 does he?

A smart move now would be for Worcs to sign the, presumably, disaffected, Jon Batty
Worcs won't be in Division 1 next year anyway (nor will Surrey for that matter). Jon Batty can't have a lot of cricket left in him, five years younger than Paul Nixon though. Dunno if he's contracted beyond this season but I suppose he might have a year or two as second team captain. Too many coaches around already though.

Another South African who can play in the next Ashes and cause the Australians more consternation, hopefully.

And is that Tom Smith of Sussex on the field in Surrey colours? Loan signing, do we know?

Northeast impressing again. Be nice if he could get on an A tour despite limited opportunities, he looks a real talent.

Yeah, long signing made last week. Came in because offie, Simon King is injured.

The thought is that Surrey will only get 10 or 12 overs until it goes dark.

If the wind was such a concern, why didn't they start one hour early or just make it a 20 over game? Farce.

Northeast looked poor against the Bangladeshi U19 spinners but he doesn't look too troubled against Surrey's English spinners. Playing them with some contempt.

Surrey five wickets down, and well behind D/L in a match which could end any minute - and Ramprakash hasn't batted. I thought I must have missed him.

Couldn't even make it out onto the balcony. Looking at Thorpe, Bicknell and Adams just made me wish they were in the team. :(

I meant to post this yesterday, but congratulations to my county...no, not Lancs but Cheshire, winners of MCCA West for the second time in three years and now chasing a second overall title in three. Would honestly back them to beat some of the shocking Div 2 sides ATM.
