Great victory for hampshire, they got lucky with Gough being injured but then came back brilliantly with from 12-4 with Pieterson. Im now very iritated that i had 2 essays to do and couldnt go.

Simon Jones' injury will probably stop him from playing in Glamorgan's next match, which will in turn throw doubts onto his fitness for the first test against Sri Lanka. Obviously a scan is needed before we know what's really going on but it doesn't sound too serious overall.

Luckily the Sky Sports team have done their best to reassure England fans by mumbling cryptically about "doubts" over Jimmy Anderson's fitness without further explanation.

Nice one Nass and Bumble.

another good win for the Lancs 2 day, tom smith continuing to do well. Also nice game between Hampshire & Essex.

Good stuff from Lancashire: bowling was superb. Kyle Hogg looks a useful foil for the likes of Mahmood, Chapple and Smith. I thought we were lucky that the Worcestershire bowlers were unable to knock over the top four - zero batting again. Hogg cannot be considered a number seven, especially following Chapple and Sutton. IMO Horton or Croft should have been in there at five or six. Hopefully Hodge will give a bit more strength to the top order. Unsure about Chilton already.

Had to leave London to get the train home after about 12 overs so I didn't get to see Smith bowl. What speed was he bowling at.

Think he needs a couple of seasons at Lancs before we start talking about the A team etc.

Agreed, must be allowed to develop. I think he was high 70s/low 80s, but I only saaw a couple of overs from him (history revision :()

I was at the Rose Bowl today, great game. Pietersen was absolutely outstanding, rescued the side from the depths of 12-4 in style. Carberry, Mascarenhas and Warne also contributed to get them to a respectable total.

Essex did well as the Hants new-ball attack struggled, but eventually Warne was brought into the attack and things changed. He brilliantly ran out Andy Flower, before grabbing the vital wickets of Middlebrook and Adams in two balls with outstanding bowling.

Great day capped off by me meeting Andy Flower and shaking his hand as he fielded at third man.

so no Jones, Anderson or Harmison

who's gonna play then?
My money's on:

Hoggard
Flintoff
Plunkett
Mahmood
Panesar

Mahmood's a bit left-field I know, but it could happen.
