So how did Somerset irritate you greatly then? Did they deny you planning permission for your moat?
Not a bad debut, eh? Shame he's a Yorkie.superkingdave said:time until Hinton comes on to call for Rashid's international call up?

Just by be being generally inept and saying for about the tenth year in a row "we have a young and inexperienced squad, so bare with us, but at least we won the Twenty20 last year, so we are obviously on the up" - The new Derbyshire I reckonScaly piscine said:So how did Somerset irritate you greatly then? Emphasis is put on authentic bowling as
bowlers are sometimes asked to encourage batsmen to score freely to entice an early declaration. Although a
legitimate part of cricket today, centuries scored under these conditions do not qualify for the award.
Looks like the Walter Lawrence Trophy is handed out (edit: Nah. See SKD). And someone needs to stop Middlesex from scheduling Championship cricket at John Walker's ground (whoever Mr Walker was...)a massive zebra said:What on earth is going on in the Sussex match?
Sharma looks quite the talent, good lick for a boy of his age and his pretty tall.superkingdave said:anyone watched any of the under 19's?
good knock from Mullaney but probably not enough. There's a guy playing for India called Ishant Sharma who i think is 17 and bowls at a decent pace(85mph) but for some reason he was giving the batsmen send offs both yesterday and today, he was telling Mullaney to f off today when he bowled him, isn't that a bit strong for a youngsters game?
Well we got "f off" in an Under 13 league game the other week so I ain't that surprised it's happening in Under 19 Internationals...superkingdave said:anyone watched any of the under 19's?

Seen him play a few games this year and his been pretty good (decent lick also). Especially at the end of a game where he has been excellent.Arjun said:So far, Zaheer has played nine matches with 53 wickets so far. Very impressive, but if you've seen him bowl, how's he bowling? And what do you think of it?
Ishant Sharma made his Delhi debut as a change seamer in the Ranji OD series. He's very tall by Indian standards, although this is the first time his pace was recorded. The Delhi selectors were looking for young prospects, so they found him. Unfortunately, they took a backward step and dropped him, going back to the proven NS Negi and Madan Lal Jr. That didn't help much, as they didn't make the knock-out phase.superkingdave said:anyone watched any of the under 19's?

the two games you mention are both being played on 'outgrounds' although Southgate usually gets a couple of games a year. There are a few things to mention here, firstly groundsmen tend to err on the side of having good battting pitches rather than risk the loss of an annual match if they produce a bad wicket, they are also more interested in matches lasting 4 days due to the revenue issue. Then there is the weather we've been having recently.Arjun said:There's one match where first-innings scores by both teams are over 600, and then there's one where there are three scores over 350, including a declaration.
