Seen him play a few games this year and his been pretty good (decent lick also). Especially at the end of a game where he has been excellent.

LBH Zaheer was never a bad cricketer, bit excitable but like many of his contemporaries he simply got lazy, too big for his own boots and the question marks about his commitment probably would still remain. However some time in the wilderness could be the best for him.
Zaheer is not really one you'd question about commitment; he's a fiery player. Yes, he's got into the wrong things– ramp-walking, modelling in ads and even a brush with filmdom/the high life, but on the field, he's not one who'd have an attitude problem, unlike some other seamers. Hopefully his recent run of form will have him back in the Indian side, even in ODI's– that experience factor will be vital, and he's potentially more effective than lucky little Agarkar. Let's see how his tenth match ends. What I wanted to know is how he's been bowling– like Jon Lewis or the Zaheer Khan of old?

Might see Simon Marshall play tomorrow, for his club (Neston) who are playing my village side.
sorry to put a dampener on things George, but Lancs are playing Notts in the Pro40 tomorrow (its on Sky). I'd imagine Marshall will be in the side

There's one match where first-innings scores by both teams are over 600, and then there's one where there are three scores over 350, including a declaration. Postage stamps indeed. What's going on out there?
Since when has 3 scores over 350 been a certain small ground/flat pitch?!

Was hoping he wouldn't be, but I suppose with zero part-time spin in the Lancs side at the moment a one-day spot is assured. From the talk at the match today he might well have played his last club match for sometime.

The game at Guildford was ridiculous - Somerset 668 for 8 declared vs Surrey 717 all out. If sides can be punished for producing pitches that result in games ending in two days due to too much spin/seam, why can't they be punished for producing a pitch that wouldn't produce a result in a week-long Test. I know which match I would rather see and which will encourage young talent.

I'd say it's debatable whether him or keedy is first choice one day spinner

According to Rob Key once Amjad Khan (3 overs for 39) gets the necessary qualification he will be on the brink of an England call up.

You'd think he'd been on some England A some time if he was. Doubt he can bowl in ODIs, either.

Spurs me to think what an XI of England candidates born overseas would look like...

Strauss (Middx)
Moore (Worcs)
Trott (Warwicks)
Joyce (Middx)
Pietersen (Hants)
Shah (Middx)
Dalrymple (Middx)
+Jones (Kent)
Khan (Kent)
Mohd Akram (Surrey)
Mason (Worcs)

The last two are desperate selections because I need a bowling attack and Jug-ears is too old. Not a bad top eight, though.

Couple of improvements to the bowling.
