I worship the ground he walked on - Derbyshire loved Eddie and Eddie loved Derbyshire. Such a mild-mannered, bespectacled giant of a man who won games through sheer force of will.

Mike Trapido mentioned earlier today that it's something about Derbyshire and South African people - we always just seem to get on so well with each other.

Look at his First Class statistics. They are magnificent. He is very unlucky not to have played more games for Australia as he is probably one of the strongest First-Class players in the County Championship at the moment not to mention one of the most reliable. He came in when Yorks were 4/20 the other day and belted a magnificent 100.

Runs: 23,692
HS: 301*
Avg: 57.64
100's: 76
50's: 106

And his bowling figures are respectable fore a batsman too with 111 wickets at 35.
