Some great middle order batting from Derbyshire.

Only consolidation at this moment for Surrey is that with SA Newman, +JN Batty, *MA Butcher, MR Ramprakash, AD Brown and Clarke in the sie today then runs are bound to come for them

Yeah, the batting's rarely been a problem. The issue has been our complete inability to produce bowlers who are more than cannon fodder. I'm struggling to think of a county that has been less productive in this area over the last 15 years.

Durham are looking likely to declare at lunch....currently 561/8 with Ottis hitting three sixes and 33 runs in 30 balls so far. Great stuff. The way we are hitting boundaries so close to lunch indicates an upcoming declaration which would leave Kent needing 411 to avoid the follow on.

Looking good!

P.s Kent miss out on the third bowling point

A day of records for Durham...

It ranks as our third highest CC total!

1st is 645-6 declared back in 2002 against Middlsex at Lords

2nd is against Derbyshire in 1994 625-6 at Chesterfield

3rd WAS v Warwickshire in 1994 down at Edgbaston when we had 556-8 declared

Funny how they all come away!

And Muchall and Mustards 6th Wicket Partnership of 249 breeses past the previous record held by Boon and Collingwood from 1998 (193)

If we can get Key out early on then that will be a great start. We have a severally depleted attack and even more so with Lewis out but Gibbo and a revitalised Onions will cause problems

Lanc 224 all out lead of 30 over the Hants. Early season conditions playing a big part in these low 1st innings of course.

Afternoon!

I have just came back online after doing a bit of Uni work during Lunch and the few hours of this session and I see one very big positive....Key is gone. Thorp and Killen seem to be bowling very very well and aren't giving much away at all but its a shame Onions had such a bad 6 overs.

Van Jaarsveld is a very dangerous player and the sooner we stop this potentially three figure partnership the better

Somerset trailing by 183 in their 2nd innings after the follow on.

Gloucestershire 437

Somerset 143 & 111/4

Lewis is on fire.

Yorkshire's decision to field is baffling
Not really, I assume the pitch and outfield are a bit damp and it's much easier to win a 2 and a bit day game bowling first than batting first because you're pretty much relying on a follow-on if you bat first to win.

Eyes not spreadsheets
To get 3 points batting you need 300.

To get 3 points bowling, you need 10 - if it's bowler friendly then bowling first will more than likely earn more points.

White has given them a Glimmer or hope of avoiding the embarrasment of loosing by an innings but its still the likely outcome in my eyes. Especially given the form Lewis is on.
