Another Wicket for young Smith.....8-3-20-2.....good stuff

As I have said on here many times in the last week, Hampshire are going to have problems with the bat this year and already we are seeing this manifest itself.

I said that I though Lancs would beat Hampshire.....but I never expected such a quick haul of wickets in the limited amout of play we have had today. Young Smith is on fire

Had a wonderful day at Gloucestershire.. Spent ages in traffic, got there late, paid Twelve (yes twelve) pounds to get in, it smashed with rain, I got told not to take photos because I didn't have a media pass.. I then couldnt get a refund on my ticket they had just sold me ten minutes earlier.. I then left and the sun came up and they resumed play.. And halfway around the world SA are kicking ***...

Only in England could you pay that amount of money for the privelige of sitting in the rain and not "make a fuss" about it..

GO Lancashire!

Tom Smith is a fantastic prospect and it's great to see all the young seemers we have at Lancs.

3 down now, Chapple with his second wicket.

Apparently Flintoff is available for the C&G match on the 7th may, Anderson is available for the CC match from 3-6th may but they've asked for him to be rested on the 7th ahead of the 1st test so i guess he looks odds on to play.
I think Hodge may be over here by then as well. Lancashire full-strenght with everyone available:

Chilton
Sutcliffe
Loye
Hodge
Law
Flintoff
Sutton
Chapple
Cork
Anderson
Keedy

Typicaly woefull batting performance by Hampshire today last year they constantly dug themselves out of such situations, just hope they can do it again.

A little bit premature assuming that Lancs are going to win, you obviously didnt follow most of Hampshires games last yar

Nah I turn out for the odd National League and Twenty20 game, watch them on Sky whenever I can. Hopefully my mum will let me go on the train to a championship game in the summer.

Dont know much about the Somerset team but is Cameron White likely to get many overs this season? Or was he signed purely on his batting ability?
Well bear in mind that Ian Blackwell bowled more overs than any other Somerset player last year and that's your answer.

I was suprised when reading all the pre-season media that Lancs were tipped to struggle. I have been saying for months that I think they could push for the title and they couldn't have wished for a better start against what I see as an overated Hampshire side who I have said many times will struglle for runs.

By the looks of things Maximum Bowling points are heading your way

But of course the mighty Durham start today and I have worries about this match. Kent I feel will be title hunting so its a hard game to start life back in the top flight. A draw with a few batting and bowling points would please me

Sussex team:
RR Montgomerie, CD Hopkinson, MH Yardy, MW Goodwin, *CJ Adams,
RSC Martin-Jenkins, +AJ Hodd, LJ Wright, DJ Spencer,
Mushtaq Ahmed, JD Lewry.

Warwickshire team:
NV Knight, IJ Westwood, IJL Trott, AGR Loudon, JO Troughton,
MJ Powell, DR Brown, +FA Klokker, *HH Streak, NM Carter,
JE Anyon.

Sussex are batting first. This should be a very interesting game actually. Warwickshire are tipped by many to win the title this year but I see Sussex as an outside chance of top With the top order of RR Montgomerie, CD Hopkinson, MH Yardy, MW Goodwin, *CJ Adams and RSC Martin-Jenkins there is no question there is runs in the side.

Where is Kirtley by the way? Yardy and Ahmed will cause problems today and young Luke Wright is one to watch.

As for Warwickshire as always Nick Knight it vital to the side. again they have a side full of runs and Westwood and Loudon have impressed in warm ups and Anyon looked in form apparently.

I think Warwickshire will win this one but it should be a fascinating game.

No Mick Lewis

Maher hits his second boundary of the day and is into double figures in his first game as Husseys replacement. Already beat his highest score in his four innings for us last year
