Yeah, but to be fair they were helped by a flat pitch and pretty awful fielding and bowling (Croft aside). Irani has been class though since he stopped bowling, he's been able to dedicate all his time to batting - and it shows.shaka said:Hi, I see that Ronnie Irani and james Foster seem to be batting quite well in their current match with Glamorgan, and they might be looking for recalls to the national side, however i am not sure who they would likely replace, and that Irani has not been consistant when playing for England.
His batting is good wnough I think - but age is against him.SpaceMonkey said:Irani has retired from bowling due to a cronic knee injury..and he's not a good enough batsmen / fielder to get even close to a 2nd XI England side let alone the main one. Foster has potential...and i cant see why he cant be given another chance with England considering Read is on his 3rd chance already.
Doesn't put anywhere near enough work in.steds said:Third first class fifty this season for Chris Schofield today.
How long can England ignore someone averaging about 53 with the bat this season for?
He could be like a Nasser Hussain.. Leggie turned batsman, just a lot later on...Tom Halsey said:Doesn't put anywhere near enough work in.

And I though Chris Hinton was biased!steds said:Fifty for Glen Chapple aswell, surely he is better than Alex Wharf with bat and ball
If Ian Bell can't make the touring side, then Irani has absolutely no chance.Tom Halsey said:His batting is good wnough I think - but age is against him.
Indeed I am.Neil Pickup said:You're not seriously suggesting that Ronnie Irani ever has been or ever will be good enough for International cricket as a batsman alone are you?!
Then you're an idiot.Tom Halsey said:Indeed I am.
Have a look at the stats - he's been near the top of the County averages for a few years in a row now. On top of that, he's a thoroughly good team man, unlike Chris 'Tuffers' Schofield...
First, he's not a 'thouroughly good team man', he's well known for being the most irritating person in any dressing room he's been in.Tom Halsey said:Indeed I am.

Nobody else says he is. I've probably posted about 20 posts saying he is, so it's all my fault.superkingdave said:Chris Schofield isn't a test batsman( though he does have a test match 50)
Pure rubbish, he's a good bloke, and they wouldn't appoint a 'Tuffers' as captain.superkingdave said:First, he's not a 'thouroughly good team man', he's well known for being the most irritating person in any dressing room he's been in.

Colin Croft I can only assume?Tom Halsey said:You can't smash Croft the way he did on Thursday and be naff.
