Despite the fact that his age will be as long as the duration of the match?
and your point being? its a one off game and if hick does manage to maintain a good record in 20-20 i dont see any reason why he shouldnt be in that side.....especially considering he wont be that much of a liability in a shorter version of the game as he would in a 50 over match

*Of course I saw the flaming score*

I was there! Boy Thomas batted well, it was a good match.. Wasnt helped by some shoddy fielding from Somerset though, and the old duffer I had to sit next to moaning about the way cricket is heading...
On a side note, I think Simon Francis hit the second biggest six (off Croft) I have ever seen, live or televised.. It nearly had the distance to end up going through my bedroom window (I think it cleared the river by some yards), just the wrong angle...
That was directed at the other Rich, you know the Kent fan.

His beloved team were beaten by er...Ess...oh, I'll leave him to tell you. :D

I'd say the fact that he's close to 40 and would be a huge retrograde step would be more relevant.

Are you not the same person who advocates dropping Martyn/Katich for Clarke and McGrath/Kasper/Gilly for Tait solely due to age reasons?

If it was selected solely as the best Twenty20 England side playing tomorrow, then I could see the argument. However, it's probably more likely to be used as exposure for younger players and possible future England players (eg Graham Napier...)

Personally i think your more likely to see very similar line-ups to the ODI side from both teams. Althoug Flintoff would probably be 3, Pietersen May open with Tresco, Strauss at 4, Jones, Bell etc

Why not Bicknell - you know with him what you're going to get, and at the time it was exactly what was needed as a short term fix.

Leatherdale has less chance of playing for England than Neil or I.
You will know note that I never said England should pick David Leatherdale, but it still highlights my point of the overall lack of quality depth of fast bowlers in the English game.

At anything Bicknell would probably have been the last resort of any decent replacements.

well it is being reported on bbc that Flintoff, Harmison, tres, anderson collingwood and giles have been cleared to play in the twenty twenty.

can understand it for everyone except Steve Harmison, what possible benefit can it have for him?

Looking forward to seeing Flintoff bat in it though!

Just had a look at the 20/20 score tonight for the Yorkshire ve Notts game.....wow...Notts chased down Yorks 207 in style, with Ealham smashing 91 in 31 balls in about half an hour with 9 sixes, against a bowling attack with Silverwood,Kirby etc in it..and that after he bowled 4 overs for just 19 runs.Pretty impressive
