So having a world class economy rate of 4.08 an over! with a best bowling of 5-15 (IIRC that is still the best bowling figures by an Englishman in ODIs) and picking up 5 v Sri Lanka at Perth an indication he can't bowl?

You are a goose.

He's a bit too old i feel now, it would be a massive backwards step to go for ealham. 5-15 is top figures but Zimbabwe seemed determined to just give him the wickets for free LBW each time.

Oh I realise he has about as much chance of playing for England again as I have winning the 2005 Tour de France, but I was defending him from TEC's comments that he can't bowl at international level.

a) There's no point in picking that age of player.
b) There's no point in making knee-jerk picks.

You summed up your bias with that side you selected.

You don't half 'react' to a one off innings do you?
Have you seen any of Thomas' innings besides the televised one on Monday?
(18 runs at 6 last year)

You say Ealham is 'excellent' at 20 20 level after one, admitedly brilliant, innings but fail to explain that he scored 69 runs at an average or 13.8 last year.

No Pietersen?

Oh and Batty is so good that he bowled 3 overs for 34 in the first match this year and then wasn't asked to bowl in the second!

Last year his economy rate, 8.6, was the worst in the team

Batty is not the best spinner i did that becasue i knew the reaction it would get. But i think that it Jason Brown

Revised team

Trescothick Vaughan Hick Flintoff Maddy Bell Ealham G Jones Thomas Batty Gough

Batty is the best Spinner
Even Warwickshire 2 part-timers tonight have done better than him!

What a strange line-up we have this season (based on tonight)

Carter (opens both batting and bowling)
Wagh (seems to bowl most games)
Bell (see Wagh)
Hogg (2 games, 8 wickets and lots of runs)
Troughton (as I type the most economical bowler in the comp)
Penney (at last a specialist bat, what a fielder!)
Wagg (a bowling all-rounder who slogs, yet wasn't called on to bowl tonight)
Trott (another specialist bat, and he's at 8?)
Streak (International class all-rounder)
Brown (FC batting average of over 30, also bowls if needed (but not really yet this comp))
Frost (Need a keeper in the line-up and his FC average is 28!)

i dont know how much of ealham you've watched but the fact is that he never ever bowled in the slog overs....reason being he just wasnt good enough to do so. and in 20-20 pretty much every over is a slog over, so i doubt ealham would have any success.
and that 5-15....i watched that entire game. i would be ashamed to boast about it because it was an inept batting performance.....zimbabwe seemed to be missing straight balls.
