You'd have thought after the dross that was last season they would have made some major changes for this. Any idea why they have suddenly gone so poor the last few years? just the loss of good players?Langeveldt said:Somerset look set to join Derbyshire as the "jokes" of county cricket...
Hopefully I will have something better to do this summer than watch the endless dross the laregely talentless player base churn out on a day to day basis...
Good luck Ricky! Won't be watching!!
They have never been top draw, but from an absolutely mad cricket area with no distractions like football or rugby, you would think they would be rolling in talent....SpaceMonkey said:You'd have thought after the dross that was last season they would have made some major changes for this. Yeh i watched the match on Sky... Good job you had better weather than we did Good game...gio said:Anyone see my boys Scotland play Yorkshire at The Grange. I was going to go don to see it after my computing exam but decided just to go home instead. Scotland did well to restrict Yorkshire but once Watson had gone, the game was over. The overseas players just aren't doing it for scotland this season. .... what i'd give to have Rahul Dravid back...
Tim Bresnan looked good with ball again today. I can't believe he's still only 19. He looks a lot older, and I'm sure he was older when I saw him last summer.
Was it the somerset chairman that was talking about a new ground or something during a sky game at taunton?Langeveldt said:They have never been top draw, but from an absolutely mad cricket area with no distractions like football or rugby, you would think they would be rolling in talent....
There is the usual laissez faire attitude at the county ground. Everyone likes a good moan, but nobody with any power seems to care that much as usual.. Backed with an incompetent management who dont do very much I guess...
Some people could go on for ever about the failings of cricket teams like Somerset... But if you have a lower standard bunch of players than the rest, you arent going to do very well! Its not rocket science!
Well im sure Sriram was said to be averaging over 50 this season by someone on the sky commentary...hardly bad for any overseas playergio said:Anyone see my boys Scotland play Yorkshire at The Grange. Then that isn't too bad (compared to be dismissed out for 41).Neil Pickup said:41-9 became 82 all out, however.
Form is temporary, class is permanent (I Hope..)tooextracool said:good to see pieterson finally showing some form
thats all well and good when you're actually in the national side....prove yourself there and your gold for quite a while....i just hope that pieterson doesnt come into the side in the worst of form in SA , makes a complete mess of things, is considered to be the biggest let down since greame hick(or ramprakash) and consequently is never considered for selection againtwctopcat said:Form is temporary, class is permanent (I Hope..)
Pieterson has had a fairly good season so far, averaging over 40 in the County Championship and 52 in the national league.twctopcat said:True, if he turns out to be as inconsistent as Hick etc it will be a big blow.
Grrrrrr...........luckyeddie said:Well, I'm not so sure about 'never considered again', even if he went to SA and averaged, say, 27 - if he averaged over 47 in the county championship he'd probably be good for, oh, say 52 caps.
27 would be an average tour for a newcomer....it would probably include a couple of half centuries in it. im talking about a disastrous tour of SA like averaging in the 15s. but then again hes probably too good a player to go through a trot like that.luckyeddie said:Well, I'm not so sure about 'never considered again', even if he went to SA and averaged, say, 27 - if he averaged over 47 in the county championship he'd probably be good for, oh, say 52 caps.

What's that, you say, plays for Nottinghamshire?
Point withdrawn.
