BTW Marc, is Neil Carter opening the batting for Warwickshire as a pinch hitter?

He is, has varying degrees of success...

Seems strange to have someone who IMO would be England's number one opener if he hadn't retired soming in at 3.

Well its the first morning of the Northamptonshire vs Worcestershire game and i see this...

G J Batty 15.2 4 38 6

Thats 6 wickets for 38 runs on the first morning. I cant see how people say he isnt better than Giles, even if you take into account the Northamptonshire pitch is spinner friendly i dont see Giles taking a 6 for on the first day :)

Also batty is 10x better fielder than giles and also can hold a bat as good as Giles.

Key smashes another century for Kent and becomes the first to reach 1000 runs for the 2004 CC season.

What is he on at the moment? His mum must be sneaking protein tablets into steak and chips every night. New brand of beer perhaps?

Ribena-Lemonade, I'd guess.

Was it the somerset chairman that was talking about a new ground or something during a sky game at taunton?
Not sure, didnt see it...

They have been talking about a new ground for ages... If built it would bring cricket even closer to the Langeveldt household :) Storming... However I cant really see it happening...
There isnt a lot of point either, ODI's at Taunton seem to be a bit of a pipedream, theyve already got the best wicket and an outstanding indoor school... Why not spend the money on a better player base??

I remember the interview more clearly now, he wanted to host the matches that didnt involve England in tri-series one day tournements.

Tres had better start scoring big because Key is coming up fast (well plodding up fast). Impressive form, shame he couldn't do it in May.

I saw the Interview during a Sky game (Somerset v Yorks I think) - Basically Rich, Somerset are going to completly flatten the whole ground all the stands are being re-built (even the new ones) and the square will be turned to a different direction, the whole ground will be re-built, playing surface will be made larger and the whole thing will be built as part of a complex hotels and shops and the like I think it was and the ground will hold (well I can't actually remember the real figure) but it was in the 10 - 15k I am pretty certian.

Also recall some sort of ground share with someone is being considered but I am lost as to who it was (Interview was like 3 weeks ago now :D ) - They basically wantted to improve the whole place/area and try and attract ODI cricket, but he was pretty certian that they didn't care for the longer version of the game.... It will basically be excatly what the team just down the coast from you did in Hampshire.

So that's why they retained Ian Blackwell!
LOL Marc :D

You know the idea is great and all but why destory 2 stands that were only opened within the last year or so  - Surley the long term plan has been around more than a year.

Counties complain they don't have enough money they should go visit Somerset who obviously have enough just to throw it all into a skip... saying that they do unfortuantly have one of the stranger boss.
