I know, from nowhere england seem to have a plethora of good middle order batsmen. All we need is a decendant of Jim Laker to pop up and the ashes is ours!

Maybe, I went on CricInfo domestic averages page. May or may not have been updated.

Sorry for any emotional damage this mis-information may have caused. :p

4 in 8 now isn't it though?
Certianly is Marc :)

* 118 vs Gloucs
* Two vs the Kiwi's
* 173 today

Hopfully it will continue for a long time to come, apprantly he sorted a minor fault out during the summer and it's worked a treat, he only hit what 500 runs in total last season and already he must be close to wipe that out.

But in general there has been alot of top batting efforts in the last week allround the country :)

Suppose so, i always get over optimistic at the thought of england becoming a consistent force :p
All I'll say on the matter is that we're heading in the right direction (at long last)

I cant see England cricketers doing a rugby and being world beaters, but yeah they are going in the right direction and the days of being near the bottom seem to have vanished...

As for ODI's though, bit of a mixed bag :(

Certianly is... hard to say with a bit of experiance it will become a force, or if it simply isn't a good enough team, if that's the case though what is our best side?

Tough one.. my two cents

1. M Trescothick
2. A Strauss
3. M Butcher
4. G Thorpe (if available?)
5. M Vaughan
6. A Flintoff
7. I Blackwell
8. G Jones
9. R Johnson
10. J Anderson
11. M Hoggard

No room for Harmison... There will be once he proves he is as good in ODI's as tests...
No room for Giles, the superior bat of Blackwell gets him in..
Butcher must really play ODI cricket before its too late.. Sod WC2007, lets think about today
Not sure about Thorpe's status.. If not get Collingwood, later Pietersen in
