Heavy Rain expected all next week :(
After three weeks of unbroken sunshine, you really would expect it before too long, wouldn't you?

Let's face it, permanent sunshine would just be catastrophic..

I think it's a fairly safe bet that we'll get some pretty chronic stuff over the weekend.

Stick "Dominican Republic" or "Haiti" and "Floods" into the BBC News search engine for a taste of the weather system that's making its way towards us.

Yeah but the that will be long gone by the start of the second test...mark my words!

Back to the cricket - do Warwickshire's team understand the concept of building an innings?

405 all out in 74 overs - Neil Carter (not that great a batsman) 95 from 80 balls with 9 fours and 6 sixes.

All that from 50-4 and 174-6 - 2nd time in a row we've seen some superb depth to the line up.

The more I see Mark Ramprakash and Graeme Hick make big scores, the more I wonder how they never able to recifty their faults and make it as Test cricketers.

Certainly Hick was a pretty good ODI player.

Looks like David Hussey is continueing the Hussey tradition.
He seem's to be 'hit-and-miss' to me.

He makes some low scores, but can make some big scores as well, but in pretty quick time.

No, because Vaughan is coming back, and Key is an opener!

On another point, Worcestershire hammered by Tahir (who says Warwickshire don't give youngsters a chance) and Ian Bell (with the ball) and Dougie Brown and Neil Carter with the bat.

Imagine what a hammering it would've been had our top order and frontline bowlers performed!!!

interestingly enough i wouldnt be surprised if the selectors decide to open with tresco and strauss and bat vaughan at 4.

Would you care to enumerate Ramprakash's faults?

He's the only player for whom I predicted a big future when he was still a very junior county cricketer who hasn't made it at least pretty big in Test cricket, and it's been a great disappointment to me that he didn't. I'll be quite happy to explain my view of why he failed, but I'd be interested to know what someone else perceived as his faults.

Cheers,

Mike

Only David Lloyd, with his tender loving cheer, got the best out of him. Ramprakash has the talent but is emotionally vulnerable and needs to be treated with respect so cannot succeed under tyranical dictators like Fletcher.
