Lamb and Wessels aren't English based anymore iirc. In fact Lamb's currently playing for Zimbabwe.

Yes I appreciate that, just thought I'd thrown them in there as I still associate them with County cricket, and I'm sure people that follow this thread will be familiar with them.

Gary Ballance is Zimbabwean I think, so no surprise he's playing there.

Yeah all apart from Cork who is about to turn 57 and Tahir have massive injury problems.

A little wary of signing too many Kolpak players especially as we have so many good young players coming through but we did really need another fast bowler and de Wet if fit will be perfect.

Good to see Jimmy Adams going fairly well in New Zealand, has turned himself into such a good performer in all formats, love the guy.
Great to see him in the A side. One of my favourite players to watch.

Shame he doesn't want to represent them.

The IPL has dealt a couple of blows to Essex with Ryan ten Doeschate and Owais Shah being picked up, will result in them missing between four and six Championship games, not ideal with Essex trying to regain Division One status. The option of re-signing Hashim Amla on a short-term contract is a possibilty I suppose.

Good news for Essex was Ravi Bopara missing out on an IPL contract, at least he should be available from the start of the season.

Andrew McDonald will miss the start of the season for Leicester, having been signed for Delhi Daredevils.

Really don't like the IPL denying counties some of their star players, I know there is a financial compensatory figure paid to the clubs, but the way the CC is structured, they're basically missing a third of the CC season.

Yes, it's not good at all and to be honest I didn't realise the IPL affected so many games in the CC.

Cricket Yorkshire mag

Hi, given this forum covers county cricket, I thought I'd let everyone know about Cricket Yorkshire magazine which is launching in May 2011. I hope forum members won't mind the post (It's news rather than sales) given it will cover international, county as well as league and club cricket so relevant to some. Anything to do with cricket at any level in Yorkshire and we're interested...

Our website has launched and we've got features from Ryan Sidebottom, Gerard Brophy and Katherine Brunt:

Cricket Yorkshire website: Cricket Yorkshire

Also...

- an interview with the captain of the Bradford League 2010 winners, Pudsey Congs.
- a candid chat with Nixon Cricket in Malton about the challenges of traditional batmaking.
- CricketForce 2011 and how to get involved
- League & club news across the county

Hopefully, something for everyone and in the future, we'll be reviewing equipment, talking to the League umpires about the challenges of officiating in club cricket plus looking at the work done at Scarborough CC for Cricket Force. We're also trying to track down Tendulkar for a chat but the Little Master is a busy man!

Also, where's Cork, Kabir, McKenzie, Pothas, de Wet and Mascar? Know Carberry's unfit, but the others....

As Dave said, Cork is dancing on ice, McKenzie isn't contracted to play for Hampshire and he like de Wet, has South African domestic commitments to fulfil. **** knows about the rest. Though North Sound is the worst wicket in the world and produces such boring cricket (120 is a good 20/20 total there), its still a shocking and laughable result.

As for Pothas, Kabir and Mascarenhas, think they've all had fitness problems and are battling to get themselves fully fit for the start of the season, so this T20 competition seemingly coming too soon for them to take part. Mascarenhas aiming for the start of the IPL no doubt.

Guyana beat Somerset. North Sound producing wonderful cricket by the sounds of it. 112 was too much this time. Irish international, George Dockrell, Saffie/German all-rounder, Craig Meschede and Calum Haggett made their county debuts.
