Simon Jones figures currently in the Hants vs Barbados game, 3 overs 2 wickets for 4 runs, very impressive. If, and of course it is a big if, he can remain fit, then maybe a career as a specialist T20 player may be a very good option for him.
Now I'm not a massive T20 fan, yes I'll watch it when it's on and will enjoy the entertainment and the game for what it is. I don't like how it has become a priority in some people's eyes, but that's because I'm quite a traditionalist when it comes to cricket. You need certain skills, but it does not compare to what's required in the longer formats. I am a huge fan of Simon Jones, but would not begrudge him turning his back on the grind of the County Championship to try and earn some quick money while his knee permits.
I generally don't agree with players doing this, as I see it as a very easy option made from players scared of some hard work. Of course the financial aspect I'm sure is difficult to refuse. But in Jones' case, he deserves some luck, and to cash in on the talent he possesses after his rotten misfortune with injuries.
