You wouldn't expect Prince to cost too much, he's not the kind of player to fill stadiums but a Test cricketer probably still requires a fair contract, not sure how cash strapped Lancs are with the recent stadium developments.

Probably better options around than Faf I would have thought, although I believe he's enjoyed a decent MTN40 campaign
.
A little bit better than decent...

Cricket Records | MTN40, 2010/11 | Records | Most runs | ESPN Cricinfo

Add to being an awesome limited overs batsman, Faf is also a great fielder and more than a useful leggie.

About time really. Watched him a fair bit for Lancs and he rarely produced, I know he was impressive in the one-dayers in 2009 and maybe now he's turned that corner, but don't think Lancs will be rushing to sign him. My opinion on him may be based mainly on four-day cricket, and while I appreciate he's an innovative one day player not sure they'll sign him for the T20.

He averages mid 40s in List A cricket, he's been really good in that format for some time in all fairness.

Yes he was very good in 2009, and did fairly well in 2008 for Lancs in the one-dayers, but not personally a big fan. Not sure you would sign him for the T20 competition and they're not going to get him exclusively for the 40-over competition.

So..Fixtures go released today. We play Sussex home and away in the CC before the end of April...

BBC Sport - Cricket - ECB releases 2011 county fixtures
Another season of ridiculous demands on the players to maintain some kind of intensity, not just volume of cricket but obviously the travel involved, and players being required to swap and change from format to format without there being a chance for any worthwhile practice in between! I don't want cricketers to be pampered, and I'm sure cricketers of old played a fair few days of cricket, but we want to see the best players playing at something near their best and most focused.

However, we knew there was going to be no change to the 2011 itinerary, but here's hoping for an overhaul for 2012.

Yeah, thanks Somerset ... June and most of July given up to Twenty20 again ... :@

(hadn't realised we'd signed Zander de Bruyn btw - that one slipped under the radar. And encouraging to see Jordan on the way back, plenty of time on his side).

Gah! I like watching T20 but this many games... ffs. A knockout T20 would improve those matches and the CC...

Was keeping track of RavBo in there, had a damn good tournament. The boy is just too good to leave in List A cricket, not quite good enough for ODI. What to do with him...

Another bizarre piece of scheduling. Why would you arrange to play the same side with only one other CC sandwiched in between ? This isn't one of the biggest problems but even so still a bit strange.

I'm not the biggest T20 fan so in my eyes this is clearly a massive overload, but some counties are dependant upon the income this generates. The ECB will not be able to please everyone with the future of the T20 competition, but if they take the fans into account, for once, surely a reduction in games is the only way to go.

Bopara's bowling seemed to be effective in SA, am a big fan of his batting, but I guess he'll be in the IPL at the start of the season and so will miss another half a dozen CC games. He isn't going to get back into the Test squad by chasing the dollar!!

Which he is crap at hence suggesting him purely as a limited overs signing. In the last five one day innings for the Titans, Faf scored more centuries than he has in FC cricket for over 3 years. Not fully taken to 20/20s with the bat but he is good value with the ball, even opened the bowling for Lancs on a few occasions, I seem to recall.

With the ball. SR sub 80 when everyone else who is scoring heavy is going at nearly 100+ isn’t so great. Similarly Shah averaged well for the Cobras but the fact he was striking at nearly 70 didn’t do his side any favours.

Hampshire have signed de Wet on a Kolpak. Hope he has a great season and gets himself in contention for the Australian series starting in October.

That's a great attack that Hampshire have there. de Wet/Kabir/Jones/Mascar/Cork/Tahir will be awesome if all actually play.....

Didn't realise Paul Horton was spending the winter playing for Matebeleland Tuskers is Zimbabwe. Currently has 522 runs @104.4 so far.

Yeah all apart from Cork who is about to turn 57 and Tahir have massive injury problems.

A little wary of signing too many Kolpak players especially as we have so many good young players coming through but we did really need another fast bowler and de Wet if fit will be perfect.

Good to see Jimmy Adams going fairly well in New Zealand, has turned himself into such a good performer in all formats, love the guy.

Did Myburgh sign as a Kolpak or something else?

If de Wet remains fit, you'd expect him to be a very useful acquisition, however, the same can be said of the Hampshire attack as a whole, if they remain or get fit, they will cause some problems, but the fitness thing is key.

Yes he's doing alright isn't he ? At least he's continued playing some competitive cricket over the winter. There's quite a few English based players over in Zimbabwe, such as Nick Compton, Chad Keegan, Adam Wheater (also at Matabeleland), Greg Lamb, Andrew Hall, Gary Ballance, Paul Franks,Greg Smith, and Riki Wessels. Throw in some talented locals and you'd think it'd be relatively competitive.
