Hussain has a strike rate of 3.3 this morning. 1 run from 30 balls......

quote from the cricinfo scorer:

35.3 Collymore to Hussain, one run, Hussain overextending himself here, gets his second run of the day, will need a break now!

I like these quotes from the Cricinfo scorer:

time for drinks, although in Hussain's case a nice strong coffee would be advisable

and

38.1 Collins to Hussain, no run, your favourite Mexican fast bowler and mine, Pedro is into teh attack for the first time today.

This CrincInfo guy must have been on the Carib.

"it's especially frustrating missing out with Pak-Ind on at the same time, with more runs and wickets in a single over than all morning here"

"throw enough mud at the wall, one will eventually stick"

Never seen commentary like this.

[sings] And the rain goes on...... [/sings] :!(

One thing about Hussain.....

he's still there.

In defence of Hussain, it's not easy and he looks sadly out of touch, but he's a gutsy player - and slow or not, his scoring rate in this game is still infinitely better than Brian Lara's.

Regarding the Cricinfo scorer - I'd gladly swap jobs with him. If he's in the Caribbean watching cricket and getting paid for it, he should STFU and leave the funnies to the duck.

Definitely, I wasn't slating him at all. It seems like the pitch is becoming a bit of a nightmare. Get through the rough patches and then it will become easier!!

It is more important for them to stay there for the moment.

. Hell yeah, it is raining and 40mph winds here and bloody cold.

This guy is beginning to annoy me now. He mustn't know much about cricket anyway.

"and the no ball brings up one of the more boring 100 partnerships you're likely to see. It's taken a little under 50 overs."

If you replace 'boring' with 'crucial', it would be more accurate.

That it was crucial doesn't change the fact that it was boring.

Sour grapes? Tell me what I say is not true. I've seen a lot of cricket and before, and this genuinely was boring cricket. It adds greatly to the England cause, but...<yawn>

It wasn't boring for me, purely because if England are doing well then I think it's all good.

Yes, it wasn't exciting cricket but it wasn't boring. :)

Yep, it was still good test cricket though, which doesnt have to be exciting to be good..

Read plum LBW to Collins.. who has improved a lot IMO...

And Dwayne Smith looks to be a handy bowler, ive been more impressed by his bowling than his batting..

Although it was a vital stand for England it was like watching paint dry. In terms of entertainment it was pretty awful and thank goodness their was India V Pakistan on the other channel. Good knock to watch on teletext I think.

No, Liam's right, it is terribly boring at times - but England have gone an awful long way to wrapping up the series in the process.

Yes, I know. They've not won the game yet, and even if they do it'll only be 2-0 with 2 to play....

I'm probably the only CW member who can remember our last series win in the islands - I'll suffer grinding performances like this for the next 12 days of test cricket for that reason only.

marc, I ask you this question again, given that you ignored it last time:
Harmison is in the squad. The wickets are likely to offer nothing to any conventional bowlers (ie seam, turn, uneven bounce). West Indies have plenty of good batsmen. The reason you have given for forgiving his poor performances for the most part against Australia and South Africa is that the wickets were good for batting and the batting was good.
Will this be the same if the same happens in West Indies?
Thought I'd quote this for posterity's sake

Wasn't there another one that said that it was impossible that Harmison would take wickets through bowling well and any he got would be bad batting?
