**Official** England in The West Indies

..."Ok. This is like something out of a bad silent movie. Butch and
Nass get halfway to the ropes, the rain stops, Bowden and Harper
call them back....
...They get almost all of the way back to the middle, and the rain
picks up again, so off they go again...."

A question I would like to ask people who follow West Indies around.
How's Sarwan's recent form?

It was very good until this series. A couple of centuries in South Africa and made big runs for Guyana in the Carib Beer Cup. He and Chanderpaul have been awful in this series. Six very poor dismissals.

Update 1630 GMT: Unfortunately during 'lunch' the rain has returned and all the covers are now back on:(

tell me those of u who have seen collins bowl recently...is he still as one dimensional as he was before?

1720 GMT: Rain begins again - covers replaced. Quite heavy bursts, and there are now even more covers than previously. Quite a bit of standing water on covers and far reaches of outfield.

damn this is worse than england

So he got the 219, & he got a century in Sri Lanka didn't he? but apart from that there's been little in between.

M.Trescothick in detail for the last year, last year being a year today not just 2004 etc

I think england will be over the moon to be 50-2, the ball was really doing things both through the air and off the pitch (best seaming it all over). HOPEFULLY tomorrow there wil be nice clear skies and england can get past 200 with just 3 or 4 down and build a lead of 100+.

Probably since the 1st innings of the 1st test v S.L (9 tests ago)he'll be very disappointed with how things have gone.

He's got a number of starts in the 20's & 30's and failed to press on, just once has he gone past 50.

The Bangladesh series was of course a chance for him to cash in & score some runs & he maintained good form v Zimbabwe so no surprises there.

His form was mixed against South Africa...the highlight was the 219, but the rest of the time he was reasonably consistent.

The pitch is good for batting, but there is some swing around because of the rain yesterday. The QPO pitch is always dictated to by the overhead conditions.
Bit like Headingly then?

When it is overcast it tends to suit the bowlers. Or though it can suit the batsmen as well as highlighted by Australia's crushing performances there.

In defence of Tresco

Difficult to know how to address the Trescothick situation, because he's not that type of player who can 'practice' his way back into form.

He's always had this fault where the feet tend to 'lag behind' (see Duckys passim) and got himself caught in the gulley. Seems he now cannot hook either.

On the other hand, he could, er, um, .........

Nope, there is no 'other hand'. Drop him.

8 times past 50 in 25 knocks and averaging 46.19 - disgraceful - replace him with Kadeer I say.
