**Official** England in The West Indies

Hats off to Mr Christopher Read, by all accounts he has had an excellent series so far with the gloves and if Talksport have got it right then he made that look easy. I admit I was sceptical before this series of his merits but I am certain he is right for the wicketkeeper position now.

Update

West Indies 148/7 (42 overs)

Smith's was a planned trap at his inadequacies
Clearly substandard. He wouldn't even make a Derbyshire 2nd XI IMO.

Impressed with Jacobs' efforts, but overall hugely angry more than disappointed.

Well it will be a bit of a psychological advantage if Collins and Jacobs can eke the WI to 200+...

Pressure on Trescothick in the morning though....

Harmison is a much improved bowler since I had seen him in the 2002/03 Ashes series in Oz. Cricinfo are saying he is in the mould of Caddick (statisically speaking!) Go the Poms!!

Perhaps you should read what I say before accusing me of such nonsense:

" Sarwan may not be one of the best in the world, but I think he certainly holds his own against Butcher and Hussain. Thorpe and Vaughan maybe not"

The comment to which you refer was blatantly 'by the way'.
so what exactly were u insinuating when u said this???
Interestingly enough Sarwan has also scored as many hundreds and more fifties than Vaughan in his last 15 Tests. Sarwan does average roughly 4 less in that time, but it's not that bad ey?
that when sarwan is in form and the pitches are flat he can NEARLY match an out of form michael vaughan says alot abt sarwans talent IMO.
im sure ur west indies batting talent was justified by yesterdays performance too.absolutely brilliant batting i must say! chanderpaul is batting like the quality batsman that u think of him isnt he?

But when they were at one point 100-0, how much of a psychological advantage will they actually have?

Michael Vaughan's last 15 Tests includes the end of the Ashes series which is far from being out of form as he notched two centuries in the last two Tests.

So Sarwan has been better over past 13 Tests but not to the point where I would say Sarwan is as good as Vaughan. Especially after yesterday's performance. From radio and cricinfo accounts, he just dangled his bat outside offstump.

i said that he was out of form in the summer...the series against sa and zimbabwe. scoring a century has nothing to do with form. sachin tendulkar averages 50 in his last 15 tests despite his poor form so i dont think u can say that he was in form when it was quite clear from the way he was batting that he was struggling. in the first test against zimbabwe it took vaughan nearly an hr to get bat on ball and throughout the summer he wasnt moving his feet and was getting out everytime in the slips

And Vaughan hasn't exactly done much today. :P

(Please note that the above is not a serious insinuation.)

can someone gimme an update on the pitch...is there anything at all in the pitch for the bowlers?
The pitch is good for batting, but there is some swing around because of the rain yesterday. The QPO pitch is always dictated to by the overhead conditions.

I agree that true quality batsmen don't play bad shots. After all, they're somewhat more than human.
