It's still a legitimate question though and the circling of the wagons from Team England ("How dare the press entertain the thought of dropping Sir Andrew?! Agreed. Fine to enjoy the win, but if they're getting arsey about the criticism of their batting, then they really have learnt nothing.

Swanns return to form was almost exactly at the point that Panesar put down those two catches.

Good job Monty, taking one for the team by relieving the pressure on Swann.

I think Swann was more impressive - not least because I actually watched the matches and know how much better than Herath he bowled - but also because Sri Lanka batted much better against Swann than England did against Herath.

Think you've hit the nail on the head with the second sentence there. The DRS is out to prevent the absolute howlers. When the umpires don't make howlers then there's not going to be and calls overturned!

Difficult to weigh up really, Swann was bowling to the better players of spin but Herath was a one man band. Both did really well though and deserve credit for that. A series draw was a fair result and neither of the main spinners deserved to be on a losing side the way they bowled.
