***Official*** England in Sri Lanka 2012

The thing is, it's acknowledged that Hawkeye gets less accurate the further the ball has to travel and, although the guideline for the outer limit was extended from 2.5 to 3 metres recently (ironically after Bell got away with one that was hitting two-thirds up middle versus India in the world cup because he was over 2.5 down the track), but that wasn't a plumb shout. Umpire's call on impact and barely shaving off.

Rodney must've been guessing there.

A lot on Trott's shoulders here then. This is tailor made for the Trott we know and love. I suspect Jack's ponderings from yesterday may get answered as well.

Must say that was ****ing crap from Bell, as much as I disagree with the nature of the decision if you like.

The sweep shot is ok, a good shot to score boundaries and put pressure on the bowler if you get outside the line. Is it the shot to turn the strike over? Would have been far safer to take one down the ground.

Tailor made for Trott but pretty much the opposite for Prior. Will be interesting to see how he goes... I don't like him at 6.

I just prefer him at seven where he's a massive bonus to the team, rather than at six where if he averages 40-45 it's just normal.

Halfway! Tbf the lower order have been better than the batsmen for most of this winter. If these two and Patel can put on another 70 we still have a chance :)

Yup. Part of the mental weakness that we're still seeing in that he can't discipline himself to play percentage shots until he's well set. Who cares if we go alonmg at 2-an-over fo a while? Ditto KP of course.

One more wicket within the next 50 runs or so would mean the match is as good as over. Come on Sri Lanka!

I guess Prior needs to gets through (which is what he has done before lunch), before he gets comfortable. He has survived for 40 balls. If these two add 30 runs, my money would be on England.

Sri Lanka need a wicket within the next 30 runs to stay in this game. If this was bell and prior at the crease i would have said different, but we have a really well set batsmen in the middle and that changes the equation in England's favor...
