Yup. Part of the mental weakness that we're still seeing in that he can't discipline himself to play percentage shots until he's well set. Who cares if we go alonmg at 2-an-over fo a while? Ditto KP of course.
A bit off-topic,but that's what I like about Dravid and Kallis. OK, tough to compare any batsman with those two, but still. I remember an innings by Kallis where he had scored zip from 30. Bowlers, fielders and commentators were feeling the pressure was rising on him, but he himself did not.Couldn't see what the fuss was all about. Just waited, waited and waited until ultimately bad balls would come.

That's what makes Test cricket the best!

Applying to the situation. Let's see Prior can do so!

EDIT: hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
70.4
Herath to Prior, 2 runs, a pre-meditated sweep but Prior makes contact, paddling it fine

'Just' 150 to go. I wonder if the new ball will be taken immediately.

In these conditions, I'm not so sure.

Morning everyone. I see we didn't lose 5 before lunch. Good stuff. Athers also having a go at the Lankan fielding positions, letting us dab the singles. Which considering Prior normally deals in boundaries and is well known for struggling to nudge the ball around is pretty poor.

I can't believe they're waiting for the new ball.

Tbf if they nip a couple out quickly with the new ball it could be over quickly, spinners with hard balls against lower order batsmen and all that ****

Yeah I guess it was the right move to get the new ball pronto.

Big spell coming up for the 2 quicks - I think a spinner will be on by the 7th over of the new ball.

Herath with the new ball, good move imo. Massive 10 overs in the context of the game, can't believe they haven't put another couple of men around the bat

Herarth is taking the new ball. Interesting.
It would be interesting if the fielding was set accordingly. Madness, to bring the spinner on and have the field set so far back with the new ball.

Welegedara has proven to be a new ball bowler and has taken some important wickets with it.

Yeah they have an ODI type field. Only two men around the bat. Poor.

I think a spinner will take the new ball right away......

Whatever you guys think...., I got the feeling SL lack a decent plan here.

They have gone defensive way to early. Patel is in his first test, Broad and Swann are always liable to get out early. They need one wicket to open up half an end but they're putting boundary riders back.

The reason we lost in UAE was great bowling AND run suffocation. We couldn't rotate the strike which built pressure. ATM we're being allowed to knock it around far too easily.
