Question? Do you ever criticise England or Downplay their wins or do you just do that with every other team in the world??
well i think this post simply confirms the fact that you dont read most of my posts. even the people who hate me the most on here and have actually bothered to read my posts would know that if theres one thing they cant accuse me off its bias. you only have to look back in this thread to see who was one of the only ones(or possibly the only one) who was criticising englands performances during the current test series. its fairly common to anyone that my favorite current test and ODI batsman hail from india and australia respectively, not from england. so go ahead then persist with ignoring this post like you have for most others.

It was a question, not a statement....thought you would have noticed that by the fact it had a question mark at the end of it. Thanks for answering it. I certainly haven't read ALL your posts....just some...and i was starting to get that impression.

I would agree with that

I think if England are going to win back the ashes then they have to play KP somewhere. Their is not too many spots avaiable in the top 6, but u can't leave a talent like this out if England are going to improve their game enough to beat Australia. My guess is that he would replace either Butcher or Thorpe, tough call as they have both been consistent for England, but consistency isn't going to beat Australia.

i for one find it extremely strange that gibbs whos been successful in tests opening and being aggressive, is better off in the middle order in ODIs.
Are you pointing that out agreeing that Gibbs is prospering in the middle order, or do you disagree? I'm not sure what you were insinuating. Its strange that you consider him better off in the middle order, or its strange that he is in the middle order when you believe he should be an opener?

For god Sake Langveldt why do you have to abuse me and bring up racial Tension. I was making a fact that Pietersen is South Africa loss and England Gain nothing to do with Apartheld.

And do call me stupid again mate

If Thorpe doesn't play we almost certainly won't win the series.

Indeed.
Ideally i think Bell should come in for Key for the summer. Then at the end of the summer Pietersen will come in for Thorpe (if Thorpe decides to call it a day).

So is Butcher out, if so then Pietersen should play in front of Bell and Key. KP is quaility and will give the Australian bowler as much headaches as the Indian have done in the past. Bat Vaughan at 3 and play Thorpe or KP at 4.

well its hard to disagree with gibbs suceeding in the middle order isnt it?
i find it strange that he is succeeding in the middle order considering that hes always been successful at the top of the order in tests. its obviously has to be psychological

Wot happened to KP's offspin. when he left SA, he was primaily an offie.

gets me thinking, if he can recover that offsin and be reaonable at it, he can take an allrounder's role when Gilo leaves. Or is that giving the guy a bit too much burden to carry. If he bocomes an allrounder, we can have to allrounders (him and Freddie) and have an extra batsman when Thorpie leaves. so the test team is something like:
1.Tres
2.strauss
3.Key
4.Vaughan
5.Bell
6.Pietersen
7.Flintoff
8.Jones or whoever
9.Harmy
10.Hoggie
11.Jones/anderson

***prepares self for an ear bashing***fingers crossed.

Yep sorry, just clarrifying.

I think the fact that his most recent innings have been extremely well paced is a sign that he is very solid in the middle order, and I really like him there.

I'll be the first to bash.

That side may work in a seam-friendly situation where spin isn't required, but batsmen who bowl a bit cannot and should not be classed as allrounders - the Test allrounder's job is a very demanding one, and IMO it's best to look upon players as specialists whos other skill is a bonus except in the case of a Flintoff.

You have to have some success at 1st Class level before u can be classifed as an all rounder or even thought of as an all rounder. KP 1st Class and ODD record are too flash:
1st Class ( 55 wkts @ 47)
ODD (33 wkts @ 51)

If u want to pick this guy as an all rounder go for it, but i can't see him winning too many games with the ball or even contributing. :p

But he was never any good as an offie. Geez, I hate that bugger, and he was born in my hometown, oh the shame!

please, what has anderson ever done in test cricket to even merit consideration to be in the test side? yes he took wickets against zimbabwe, well done to him for that, and since then hes been hammered by everyone. the fallacy of having anderson in the side will never really stop will it? no matter how much better jones does.

Why don't they just let Gough bowl in the tests, he'd be one of 4 pacers anyway so he wouldn't have to bowl too much, probably 15 overs per new ball, and he's got the pace and the cunning that I suppose comes with this age/experience. I don't think Jones or Anderson is really any good.

Gough has retired from test cricket
