Yes I'd say so having just reached 50 he would be disappointed to get out like that. Not as bad as root or stokes though

He’d be disappointed to get out any way. Getting out is disappointing. Great bit of bowling though.

Having not followed his career too closely I’m a bit surprised Elgar doesn’t average more.

He's really good, but in the middle of a long-ish slump which can't have helped his average.
Yeah even now it’s not the worst. Opening in SA is one of the toughest gigs around. But for a good while it felt like he was top scoring almost every time I checked a SA scorecard.

Elgar went though about an 18 month period where he avg around 50... think he was top runs scorer in 2016/2017 or something like. But either side he has avged under 40. Never quite found true consistency.
