I was wondering myself, it doesnt matter if he 'didnt mean it' or 'oops it slipped out'. Its above waist height surelyHow have the umpires bottled that second no-ball?

Nortjie is not 10 feet tallI don't think it was above waist height. It certainly wasn't a beamer anyways. They were slower balls so dipped the 2nd one looked to be higher so the batsman ducked under it dramatically where he should have smashed it into the stands
Archer is consistently flattered by the speed gun readings. I recall he wasn't bowling particularly quick (or well) at some stages in the WC and it still showed him to be around 90 mph. Didn't look that quick at all.Yeah second one definitely wasn't above waist height. Fell to about stump level by the time it fell past him. No ball for that would have been an attrocious decision, almost as bad as the ball itself
Speed gun was weird for those two balls as well. Showed 87+ mph for each one when they were both clearly attempted knuckle balls on replay. Makes you wonder about its accuracy.
Only way for England to have a chance to win this one is to restrict SA to little more than a 250 lead and hope the batsmen contribute adequately this time. The pitch definitely isn't unplayable yet, and the speed through which the game is processing if anything helps England's chances a little bit. Was honestly a little suprised at Faf's appraoch which seemed to be to score runs quickly. The longer SA bat the worse the pitch inevitably becomes for the second innings. That's why it was crucial that Elgar went quickly
Batting for both teams has been generally pretty woeful to be fair. Even de Kock's 95 was pretty lucky, where he nearly got out to Root about 3 times (and was arguably out for that Stokes' catch.) Tomorrow should be an interesting day
Logically, it would make sense for broadcasters to make up faster readings because it makes viewers more interested in the action. Of course, there isn't much evidence that it generally goes on, or at all, but I've never really considered to be that accurate. And Australia is touring in 14 months with Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood, Pattinson and possibly young Green.South Africa losing to the likes of Sri Lanka at home won’t be an anomaly next year. Philander is irreplaceable, they’re one injury away from having Dane Paterson play, and batting is so weak. It’s coming on 1 year since Elgar and Markram put on 50 runs together and almost 2 years since they nearly had a 100-run stand. Last 5 opening stands have all been single digits.
Looked dire first innings, then dropped a sitter in slips (albeit with a distraction).I dozed off during SAs second innings. Curious to know how Rassie looked?
Haha, yeah I saw the first innings and the drop but good to hear he looked fine so far second innings.Looked dire first innings, then dropped a sitter in slips (albeit with a distraction).
He looked much more like the Rassie we're used to from ODIs in the second dig though. The way is pitch is playing and the game is going if he can end up with a 50 on debut he should be really happy with his batting efforts despite the first innings. That drop was so dire though.
