***Official*** England in Pakistan

I think it would be a shame for Udal to play over Loudon in this series. Loudon has had little experience over in Pakistan and the sub-continent, and this tour with a strong side would be a good learning curve for him. Therefore, if Udal plays over Loudon, Udal will be effectively stunting Loudon's growth, and possibly England's in the long-term.

Whilst I agree with you 100%, I cannot see any logic in taking Udal to Pakistan unless he is going to play. Loudon, on the other hand, is there for the experience, for his future development. I think, therefore, that it is inevitable that Udal will play - IF England play two spinners.

"We're probably going to go in with one spinner tomorrow and if the wicket does look to turn in Multan we'll pick someone who hasn't played in this game, which would be Udal." - Fletcher

Hmm, wonder who'll get the last pace bowler place tomorrow then if Udal isn't going to play in that one...

Haven't they got a curry-related injury crisis at the moment?

Perhaps it's going to be a case of selecting the furthest away from the toilet.

Tommorow's team then?

Tresco
Strauss
Vaughan
Bell
Collingwood
Flintoff
Jones
Giles
Plunkett
Harmison
Anderson

with Louden, Udal, Pietersen and Hoggard supposedly having the runs there isn't that much option

this is turning out to be quite shameful....58/7 with everyone of the top 7 back in the dressing room. and once again the pace bowlers doing the damage.

What is this going on in Pakistan? England team is finding it difficult to score a respectable figures on any surface so far.England are 76-7 in second match, a really dismal performance by English batters. It doesn't really matters as to who wins the match, what matters is that English batters gets batting practice, which so far they haven't got it.

I reckon England are playing on seamers paradise, i doubt if the test matches will be layed on such surface, or we will see match ending in less than 3 days.

Perhaps it's all a cunning strategy to convince the Pakistanis to leave some grass on the pitch for the first test ;)

The report on cricinfo doesn't bode well though. Pietersen apparently out "trying to hit his way out of trouble" - I personally would rather our no4 batsman did not take that approach. The Bell situation seems to have completely mucked the whole thing up.

you really got to wonder how long its going to take England to realise that they cant afford to play in the same overaggressive vein in which they played against Australia.

Hoggy's in the wickets, which is good to see: 4/32 off 6 and Collingwood has taken one in his first over. Interestingly it looks like we've used Colly as first change. Hope it's just to give him a few overs under his belt ahead of the first test rather than anything sinister happening to Fred. Pakistan "A" 58/5 at tea.

The batting is v worrying tho. One would've imagined all our top order has played on greentops on the odd occasion.

pitch does look awfully green tbh
They showing it on Sky? Or just highlights on SS News? It's always bugged me that Sky don't show England's warm-up games. I refuse to believe we live in a world where more British people would rather watch Nascar, ten-pin bowling or WWF than an England cricket match... :D

yeah saw the highlights on SSN pitch looked like it had barely less grass on it than the outfield

Hasan Raza has one of the most consistent pakistani batsman in domestic cricket..I dont why he has been ignored for so long.

Hopefully we can use this to our advantage too...

It's about time the ICC stepped in, these pitches are ridiculous and unfair to England. There's no way you'd get away with pitches like these in county cricket. It's one thing to make a pitch completely different to what the Test pitch will be like, it's another thing entirely to create one where 150 is a good score - not good enough.
