why?marc71178 said:More than just a lot of messing.
For a start you need a number 6 batsman who can either bowl or keep wicket...

At last, normal oder has been restored.

if you thought bells dismissal was disappointing then really the rest of them should do what Terry Alderman suggested that the aussie batsmen who got out to Giles should have done. Bell was, i repeat the only person in the entire english side in that 2nd innings who actually looked remotely comfortable out there, and its not surprising that it was only while he was batting that England exerted any sort of control over the game.social said:Disappointed with Bell's dismissal - lame way to get out after playing the spinners really well.
Late this past summer. It was Sussex vs. Middlesex. He actually scored 130-odd at better than a run a ball.magsi23 said:when was that?
bell is more of a certainity than Pietersen IMO. and honestly id much rather have prior in for geraint jones, whos disgraceful sweep shot just after flintoff got out playing the sweep was about the stupidest thing ive ever seen. id doubt thered be too many changes in the bowling departments, as such the bowlers didnt screw up anywhere near as much as the batsman who bar tresco and bell screwed up in both innings.Beleg said:So, what changes do you think both teams will make for the second test?
English Team:
1. Trescothick
2. Strauss
3. Vaughan (If fit)/Bell
4. Cook?
5. Pieterson
6. Flintoff
7. Jones
8. Giles
9. Loudon
10. Harmison
11. Hoggard
honestly id rather mushtaq played, considering englands rather inept display against leg spin along with a quality performance by kaneria.Beleg said:1. Shoaib Malik
2. Salman Butt
3. YoYo
4. Inzamam
5. Younis
6. Kamal
7. Afridi
8. Akmal
9. Shoaib
10. Kaneria
11. Shabbir
Though I have a sinking feeling the Pakistani team will retain Sami...
excellent chance for Collingwood to end his test match career by making himself look like the biggest fool ever. first whitewashes, then batting like a joke twice, no one could have done it better.magsi23 said:I guess collingwood's 3-0 whitewash is out of the window
the side was definetly crying out for someone like Thorpe or even Butcher. England may have a pretty good record chasing recently, but when you consider how many of those were done because Thorpe held the innings together, then you realise that England were always struggling batting last on this wicket which made it even more imperative for them not to have screwed up in the first inning. i honestly dont think Vaughan will be much of an improvement(although anyone would be an improvement to Collingwood), but geraint is a real liability and id rather prior with his experience in the subcontinent instead of him.wpdavid said:Fred certainly needs something when he bats overseas. Which is tough, cos his bowling's been completely heroic, but he does have a job to do at number 6 as well.
Whilst there is a lot to criticise about our batting, some of it does come down the point I made earlier about the lack of experience, especially in the middle order. We've rarely seen much from youngsters that we've sent to the subcontinent, which actually makes Bell's performance quite commendable. Whether KP & Fred will work out that they can't bat there like they do in England remains to be seen though.
Aren't Barney Rubble & howardj regular posters?Apart from them,GO_India,sheerindianspeed,vandemataram & nehrafan also made similar predictions.marc71178 said:-I don't remember a 3-0 prediction from any of the forum regulars.
fit or unfit, collingwood deserves to be dropped. if vaughan were unfit prior(and not cook) should come in ahead of him.open365 said:Does anyone realisticly see Collingwood playing the next test if Vaughan is fit?
When it comes to Pakistan i wouldnt take anything an Indian fan said seriously, and Vice Versa They seem more interested in saying the most outlandish thing possible just to get a reaction than talk actual sense.Shoaib said:Aren't Barney Rubble & howardj regular posters?Apart from them,GO_India,sheerindianspeed,vandemataram & nehrafan also made similar predictions.
God, shut up. Pakistan's victories have been almost completely due to their own hard work. Vaughan's autobiography would certainly have the latter title.vandemataram said:I'm wondering as to what should be the title of the autobiogrophy that Inazamam is planning to write, "Great Escapes" or "Fortunate Victories"???
If McGrath had retired at the end of the Ashes, he'd have been in the running too. First he called 5-0, then 4-0, then stepped on a ball the morning of a Test match, then bowled Vaughan off a noball. How embarrassing.tooextracool said:excellent chance for Collingwood to end his test match career by making himself look like the biggest fool ever. first whitewashes, then batting like a joke twice, no one could have done it better.

I think Collingwood did that only to get the attention of media & English selectors.Xuhaib said:A player of Collingwood ability talking about whitewashes is a joke. Atleast when Mcgrath talked about it he knew he had the ability to back up his comments, who knows if he had not stepped on that cricket ball they may well have doneit.
probably, or maybe Fletcher is waiting on geraint to really prove himself as a capable #6 then slot him up their..marc71178 said:If that were so, he'd have done it by now.
