No you don'tJono said:Hate to stir things up
I agree - very, very substandard. Udal too, but the reason for the defeat lay in the brittle batting display (both innings).Jono said:but all this talk about Giles doing well on the sub-continent, he had 1/111 in the test, and that one wicket was Akhtar. Now the pitch wasn't a dustbowl, and the England pacers were getting the wickets, but that's very very average.
Maybe not. One of the Cricinfo writers hammered Yousuf for being worthless against worthy opposition.GladiatrsInBlue said:I hope so, coz if Yousuf doesn't play then his absence can seriously weaken Pak batting lineup.
In fairness, England didn't dominate the first 4 days. Pakistan got off to a great start and for the first half a day, were completely in the ascendance. At the end of day 1, England had just about edged themselves in front, but of course day 2 they did dominate from start to finish. Day 3 saw Pakistan hanging in there, then gradually clawing their way back into the contest, ending just behind England again. The fourth saw the home side roaring off into the distance by lunch, and on this occasion it was England who stormed back to end the day in a very good position. Day 5 - well, the Cricinfo headline "Rampant Pakistan demolish England" - says it all. They most certainly did, and fair credit to them.nehrafan said:Its amazing to see a team dominating a game for 4 days losing to a team that dominated the game for just one day, or maybe even one session!!!
I guess that why it is said that nothing is certain in cricket!!
... and Sussex players (James Kirtley), although in all fairness Imran Khan did play for Sussex so must have had something to do with that.Shoaib said:Why? Because only asians(Pakistanis in particular) can be chuckers?
You are probably right.OZOZ said:If Poms fail to beat Pakistan and India in the test series, then they might as well forget the dream about becomming the number one team of the world!
You are late for your appointment at the local mental hospital. I think you'll see further evidence of your insanity as Australia beat up on opponent after opponent and England continue to struggle until they eventually get demolished in the next Ashes series. The sad thing is that support for cricket in England will hit rockbottom soon once again, due to the Pommish attribute of fair weather fanness.luckyeddie said:You are probably right.
Just have to content themselves with being number 3 in a few years - behind India and Pakistan but ahead of Australia.
ZZzzzzzzzzzz You must be scalys australian cousin. Every post full of spite !!!ClownSymonds said:You are late for your appointment at the local mental hospital. Would actually be funny seeing Pieterson as captain.nick-o said:Not good at all if England lose Tresco as well for the next test.
Gil-o as next captain in line?
sqwerty - this is your second bad word filter warning within 24 hours. I would strongly suggest that you don't continue this.sqwerty said:Lets get real here though........On paper that English batting lineup isn't one you'd put your house on (apart from the openers). One of the strongest features of England's lineup is that the tail is partially useful.
Trescothick - probably best opener in the world at the moment
Strauss - solid but off the boil a bit
Bell - lottery but just looks good
Collingwood - what's he doing here?
Pieterson - totally off the boil
Flintoff - hitter
Jones - always looks good but never goes on with it - decent enough number 7 though
Giles - usually good for a few
Udal - never seen him
Hoggard - blocker that doesn't seem as reliable as in the past
Harmison - doesn't seem to give a sh!t.
Sorry, it was meant as a joke.ClownSymonds said:You are late for your appointment at the local mental hospital. Tresco's father-in-law fell off a ladder (no, really) and is in hospital, so he might need to fly home. If he does, this series is down the drain as far as I'm concerned. If Tresco flies home and misses the 2nd Test, then Cook obviously plays, and Collingwood is replaced by Vaughan if fitness permits. If not, then Colly gets a(nother) reprieve, and Strauss/Flintoff/Giles captains for one Test, as I'm sure Tres will be back for the 3rd Test if he does leave.nick-o said:Not good at all if England lose Tresco as well for the next test.

Of course I know that what you said about how India and Pakistan are going to be ranked above Australia was a joke, but I doubt that what you said about England being ranked above Australia was one. My comments were referring to that.luckyeddie said:Sorry, it was meant as a joke.
Did I REALLY have to explain that to you?
That would be a ridiculous reason for him to abandon such an important tour. If it was his father, then maybe it would be justified, but it's his father-in-law. I highly doubt that he'd be so stupid as to do that. That being said, I would love to see Trescothick leave the tour early. He annoyed me to no end in the first test.Barney Rubble said:Tresco's father-in-law fell off a ladder (no, really) and is in hospital, so he might need to fly home. If we lose Tres, then we're really up the creek as far as the top order is concerned - what the hell would we do if Tres missed the 3rd Test too? Vaughan and Cook opening? What if Vaughan's not fit? Cook and Prior?!? I'm worried.
I never saw that coming.Barney Rubble said:
Given the amount of open discussion that took place in the commentary booth about how dodgy his action looked, I expected Shabbir to receive attention but nothing much was said about Malik.luckyeddie said:I never saw that coming.
At least it's not just the on-field umpires who are concerned, but Asad Rauf too. He seems to be a real stickler as far as the rules are concerned.
What did I say the other day about people bowling with their sleeves buttoned down? It just attracts attention.
5....4....3.... I should think.social said:Given the amount of open discussion that took place in the commentary booth about how dodgy his action looked, I expected Shabbir to receive attention but nothing much was said about Malik.
What's the betting on how long it will take Shoaib to make one of his racist, conspiracy theory posts?
