Is it me or does anyone else find it strange that the one spreading the collingwood love about is the same person who started a thread titled 'who is more mediocre than atherton or hussain'?
If you're on about me you'll find I've barely commented on Collingwood. I've merely gone on about just how useless Bell has proven himself to be so far given a proper run in the side. Bell has a long way to go before he's a Test class batsman.

easily have been 2 wickets courtesy of Bell

i think you will find that is physically impossible....you can only be out or get someone else out once afterall 8-)

anywho...would be incredibly dissapointed if the lads didn't get it now....still limited movement on the pitch and the pakistani attack isn't much better than average.

i reckon we could still get ourselves into a sticky patch in true england fashion, but perhaps the 20 odd runs we have already chalked up will prove quite important in our almost inevitable win.

And I'm assuming that should he play in the next Test and score a chanceless 150, you'll tell us that he went that entire way between the two Tests, and you were of course never in any danger of being wrong. That statement has been duly noted, and should he sometime between now and the end of the India tour prove conclusively that he is Test class, you'll be reminded of it.

It will if I can help it. I feel a cliche coming on....

I love it when programs arent afraid to have a bit of a laugh. There are many programs on many channels that would never have done that. Fair play to them!

No, you've gone on and on giving excuses for Collingwood (including luck when I'd say Bell getting given out off a no ball and actually having recieved an extreme high percentage of very good balls to dismiss him is actually bad luck.)

I think that's why he's hit such great form in the last year. He's become more patient. Opponents assume they can get him out just by bowling outside off, and when they discover they no longer can, they have no backup plan, and he can pick them off at will. I only counted twice in the Ashes series that he got out in his usual fashion, out of ten innings, which for him is a massive improvement given his previous record against the Aussies.
thats the most important thing, hes realised that he can just leave anything thats even remotely close to the delivery that usually gets him out while still capitalising on the inaccuracy of line and length from pace bowlers. the problem with most pace bowlers is that they refuse to bowl the same ball over and over again when it doesnt get them any wickets, but if they did that, they'd be far more likely to get trescothick out.

Man, you English dudes are quick to temper.

There's no doubt Marcus is one of the best openers going around, why on Earth Gayle was playing for the World XI and he wasn't is beyond me.
because marcus trescothick has hardly set the world alight with his performances in ODIs off late.

Sami is bowling good lines but England are clearly trying to unsettle him by playing some attacking shots and hope he loses the plot.
does sami even know how to bowl good lines? the 2nd day of this test was filled with the most unprofessional bowling performance possible, ive never seen spinners bowl as many no balls, and it was quite ludicrous to see shabbir bowl overs at 70 mph, not to mention sami bowling his usual rubbish.

I want to be able to bowl as badly as he has and still have figures of 21-7-46-3...
he certainly improved considerably after he got the 2nd new ball, and hes looked more like the bowler we know from the past.

Must say that Ive been pretty impressed with Tresco's captaincy.

Eng have lost nothing in that dept. with Vaughan's absence.
which gives even more reason why vaughan shouldnt be playing ODIs.....

Yousuf throws it away
yousuf has to be one of the most overrated players around. along with the rest of the mistakes inzy has made as captain in this test match, you have to question the reasoning behind batting yousuf ahead of himself in the first innings.

To be fair to sami he did bowl a good spell there with some reverse swing. It didnt last long mind :)

As an England fan i can only pray he plays in the 2nd test, so hopefully he'll take some wickets tomorrow (once we're almost past the post) to cement his place :D

England big favourites now - pretty good considering at one stage Pakistan were 280/3 or something like that. Pitch still flat as a road, should be comfortable.
all they have to do is see out the new ball without losing too many wickets. pretty much every bowler was far more effective with the new ball than the old(and most wickets fell with the new ball as well). Obviously Thorpe would be the ideal man in the middle order for a situation like this, but England are still favorites.

Strauss scored a century in his last Test match. Collingwood is **** in Tests. Pietersen scored a century in his last Test match.
except that both those 100s were over 2 months ago, and as such Pietersen has struggled to get into double figures since then.

Excellent article, and it irritates me because I love watching Youhana bat. But there are times when you have to put away your shots and graft. Particularly when Butt is on the other end with 100+. As a senior player what he did was a disgrace.
