***Official*** England in Pakistan

Well thats the end of 4th day play as light was offered to the batters and they decided to walk off.

England required 174 runs to win on the last day with 9 wkts in Hand.

I think England will go one up in series. :)

Pak has basically played the match with 9 players (sami and Raza haven't contributed) and though Raza might still have a future , Sami simply don't have any future.

If Asif or GUl had been playing in place of Sami and Afridi been playing in place of Raza, the Pak bowling attack would have done a much better job.
I'd rather see Kamal in for the next match. And definitely Gul instead of Sami.

I think Pak should now stick with Salman but as an opener and give him a long run regardless of his performance. He certainly seems to have the potential to succeed in both Test and OD cricket and an opener, and i think he's a far better prospect than the likes of Umar,Farhat, Hameed etc.

NO doubt Kamal is an ideal number six batsman BUT Afridi simply must play the match as his leg spin can play a very vital role for Pakistan.

Either Afridi comes in place of Kamal or Shoaib Malik, and considering Malik has done reasonably well and Afridi likes to bat down the order, i think he should come in at number six slot

Next match:

Shoaib Malik
Salman Butt
YoYo (I reckon he is better suited to no 3 than Younis Khan who is more of a grafter)
Inzamam (he shouldn't play lower than 4)
Younis
Kamal (He should never have been left out in the first place)
Afridi (sorry, but unless Sami takes a 6'fer tommorow, he has to go)
Akmal
Shoaib
Shabbir
Kaneria

Anyway, tommorow should be an interesting day. A couple of breaks early on and who knows what might happen. On the other hand, a couple of good overs and England can easily run away with it. No matter which side you are on, you have to agree that on face of it, advantage lies with England.

As well as the seamers have performed in this test, you want only two of them? You have to have either Razzaq or Gul in their, no Sami.

That side looks better balanced, but I'd like to see 3 pace bowlers. To fit them in, I'd go:
Afridi
Salman Butt
Younis (I think he's a better batsman than Yousuf and the better batsman should bat at 3)
Inzamam
Yousuf
Kamal
Akmal
Gul/Rana
Shoaib
Shabbir
Kaneria

I'd like to ask the Pakistani people where the hell Yasir Hameed is? He looked pretty promising to me when I saw him play here last year.
Practicing other shots (besides the front foot cover drive) :p

Kidding.

He was good with a suspect backfoot defence.

You mean the guy that's been batting to save the game most of the time and contributed in a big way to England getting their draws, along with being stuffed by the umpire and not getting away with being lbw and bowled off no-balls and playing horrid scoop shots that go safe? I think you'll also find Bell's record against non-useless sides is roughly the same as Collingwood - and this is with Bell getting extreme luck in 2 of 3 fifties.
Yes, coming in at 200odd-2 after Bell was unluckily dismissed in this game was really battling a draw.

I bet that even if Bell goes onto 120* tomorrow, you'll still say Collingwood should stay in.

So you're an Ed Joyce man too then?

Have to say it's 90-10 England from here. Will be very, very disappointed if we stuff it up - Shoaib survived for 50 balls against the new cherry today - the pitch is still benign as far as day five tracks go and with deep batting I have great confidence in the boys to take us home.

As for Pakistan, they cannot persist with this 8-9-10-11 setup as they're all next to incompetent.

Yep, it also helps the fielding team when they're getting clattered around that 'just a few wickets and it's all changed' which you didnt seem to get with Australia with Lee / Warne coming in so low down the order.
