**Official** England in New Zealand

And now Ryder has to go out and open the batting after being thrown in the deep end by his captain. Ryder to go without scoring all thanks to Vettori.

yeah...wouldn't have let Patel bowl it though..Mascarenhas likes spinners, probably would have bowled Oram or Martin.

Well batted by Wright and Mascarenhas to get England respectable but NZ should cruise home unless Anderson and Sidebottom pull something special early doors.

I have no problem with the experiment of trying Ryder at the death. Yes, he went for a few, but let's be honest - 243 is chaseable on that pitch with those boundaries. Add to the fact we can't lose the series and this is as close to a meaningless ODI as you can get without it being a dead rubber. I'd just like to see Ryder develop a slower ball and I think he could be useful.

Fantastic start, game appears to already be in the bag. Would take something pretty magical from England to win it from here.

Such a shame Fox Sports aren't covering it.

McCullum going ape sh!t.

Just a quick note on the Ryder-McCullum opening partnership so far.....
61 (78)
165* (109)
7 (11)
70 (61)
75* (54)

Thats 368 runs at an average of 122.66 and a strike rate of 116.46

:-O

27 ball 50 for McCullum. He has only hit like 4 faster 50's IIRC :-O

There's a replay of it after the Domestic Final IIRC. :)

Carn New Zealand! McCullum fired up after the end of England's innings and is talking through his bat.

3 sixes in the over and the last one was absolutely huge. Got up to the second tier of the Paul Kelly Stand, a stand which climbs very quickly indeed. Stunning.

Ryder exits, in comes the hero from Napier.

Back to the Ryder-McCullum partnership. Now after 5 partnerships:

61 (78)
165* (109)
7 (11)
70 (61)
103 (68)
406 (327)

Average: 101.50
Strike Rate: 124.16
100s: 2
50s: 2

Not too shabby.

Ridiculous from McCullum trying to pull that delivery. When will he ever score a hundred?

Sick to death of hearing the English keeper cry "catchit!" everytime the ball is hit - regardless of whether it's in the air for six or on the ground for four.

And ironically he didn't say anything when Collingwood put down a pretty catchable caught and bowled.

Yet again another 70-90 for McCullum.

I reckon he shoulda kept on going ape after Ryder went out. Yes, England didn't take the power play, but he was in a groove. You could see him sorta settle down. And then he got frustrated with the low scoring rate and tryed to pull such a delivery.

Hmm... getting 50's but not converting them to 100's? I'm sure I've seen this trait somewhere before...

The start he gives the Black Caps, who cares if he doesn't make an hundred IMO.

New Zealand require another 99 runs with 8 wickets and 30.4 overs remaining. Should be able to win from there fairly easily.

Me, I care - I want to see any NZ player score as many runs as they can. Because he gives NZ great starts gives him more reason to want to be at the crease as long as he can. To ensure the victory.

How out, another quick wicket and England are right back in the game with New Zealand's fairly long tail and the in-experienced Flynn.

What was the lbw shout like on Styris?

Radio coverage was he was out, but Billy gave it not out.

Edit: Haha, they've changed their mind now :D
