Don't quite agree with the others, but if Styris continues to play as carelessly and selfishly as he has in recent weeks, then he can go. His attitude seems to have taken a slide over the last couple of years.
He's horribly out of form atm but we should persist with him atm as before the WC he was average but in the WI he was the star batsman for us, only supported by Fulton and occassionally Fleming and McMillan.

Well, the ODI's are over, now we have the Tests to look forward to. I hope the selectors have enough brains to bring in How for Cumming. As for Ryder & Taylor vs Fulton & Sinclair, I am not to sure if having both of those young guys in the middle order would be good for our side. Maybe one of them, maybe none.

Its always fun to put up your own XI, so here it goes

Bell
How
Sinclair
Fleming
Taylor
Oram
+McCullum
*Vettori
Mills
Mason (is he fit?)
Martin

Can you tell I'm from CD? :p

I'd be very tempted by Ryder in the middle-order in place of Taylor, especially as Ryder has a much better record in first-class cricket.

Taylor shouldn't be anywhere near the test side. I wouldn't even let him go to the game.
But with the compulsory 5 CD player rule he has to be there :p

So you are thinking more of

Bell
How
Fulton
Fleming
Sinclair
Oram
McCullum

as a batting line up

Yeah. Ryder could conceivably come in for Fulton given how horrible his form has been, but not Taylor.

Not another! One person selecting Peter Ingram in every team he writes is enough.
Oh no I pick on merit these days, I have now moved onto ex Francis Douglas wicket keeper batsman Tim Weston whose impressive FC record is in my sig.:p

In all seriousness here's my team:

How
Bell
Fulton
Fleming
Ryder
Oram
McCullum
Vettori
Mills
Mason
Martin

Easy really. Sinclairs form is so so and I rate Fulton higher. Taylor needs more than a 41* in an ODI to convince me he deserves a test spot. A domestic average of over 40 would also help.

All I can say is thank God the Sky commentators aren't selectors. Doull would put the ND side on the park and Crowe every young batsmen he could lay his dirty hands on (yep I set that up for ya Volty)

Surely Broad to miss out for a batsmen, no?
Strauss will play, Vaughan the entire middle order he listed will drop down one and either Broad or Harmison will miss out. I'm sure Jamee knows this as well - he was just naming the team he'd like to see, and given he wants Stuart Broad's babies, he'd like to see him open the bowling and score tons at #7. :p

What was the lbw shout like on Styris?

Radio coverage was he was out, but Billy gave it not out.

Edit: Haha, they've changed their mind now :D
Looked stone dead on the coverage we got over here. The only thing that could've saved him was an inside edge, but UK Sky didn't talk one up if there was.

Vettori looked like he edged Anderson a bit later on too, which Billy also ignored. England heading for the airport as I type, I hear.

Anyway, weak satire aside, fair play to NZ; the better team won without doubt. England's flaws are there for all to see: we need an opener to go in with Cook, a spinner who won't be fodder & more than one reliable bowler. What's rather harder is picking players to fill those gaps tho...

Dicko was probably just copy-pasting
Hahahahahaha.
Dire choice making Ryder bowl the 48th and 50th over. Patel would have been a better choice.
I honestly don't think Oram, certainly, and probably Martin, would've done much better. Ryder's first 2 overs were exceptional. And unlike a front-line bowler, he has nothing to lose bowling at the end.

Just a note on McCullum's brilliant catch off Shah, BTW - one of the best of its type I've seen for a long while.

Sledge all you like but England in Tests are a much more difficult proposition than England in ODIs.
I know but I couldn't resist poking fun. You're allowed to abuse Andrew Symonds every minute of your life after all.:p

I think the biggest question of tonight is: Where is Scaly Piscine?
