***Official*** England in New Zealand 2018

U19 Captain
Nicholls has benefited from an un-interested under performing Windies team.. Long term he doesn't have the expansive game for a number 6. Possibly a squad filler in the top/middle order for injury. CDG is a decent 7, but shouldn't bat any higher.

Chapman would be a better fit, scores naturally fast and is adaptable. Neesham or Anderson also if they were ever fit/scoring consistently, but hopefully they can knock big CDG off his perch at 7 in the next year or so.

480 runs at 80 and 102 S/R this season in the Ford Trophy is hard to ignore. And yeah, you'd want Chapman to be involved from November's ODI trip to Pakistan if he's going to be at the World Cup.

Looking at the FTP again, do we seriously have no cricket from a month's time until November? Don't know whether to trust this particular PDF that says we're playing ourselves in Oct 19 then England for 2 ODIs and nothing else in November.
We’re scheduled to play 3 tests and 5 odis away vs Pakistan in October. Although they’re saying it could be played in Malaysia as the UAE is now booked out for the Afghanistan 20-20 comp at that time of year.

our middle order options of the keeper, nicholls, chapman and the need for a fifth bowler mean we're always going to have a logjam as long as guys are putting their hands up. glenn phillips, dane cleaver, tim seifert, mark chapman and tom bruce are mvps in white ball cricket domestically and can barely get a look in. it's a nice scrap to have.
Neesham or Anderson also if they were ever fit/scoring consistently, but hopefully they can knock big CDG off his perch at 7 in the next year or so.
why? both have been given more opportunities than colin and didn't do enough.

And as soon as they play on a slightly lower slower wicket, Latham once again looks a million bucks, just like he did in India.

Soon as there's pace and bounce he looks clueless. Uncanny, especially for a NZ specialist batsman.

Geez it’s tough to argue Neesham should get another shot - his bowling is abysmal these days. Anderson would have to dial the clock back several years for me to be happy to see him return as well ... his bowling was cannon fodder towards the end of his Blackcaps days, and his batting was underwhelming.

Neesham had a few good knocks last summer, but given his bowling is so dodgy why wouldn’t you just play a batsman in his spot.

He’s a retro 80s NZ batsman.

Neeshan should be nowhere near our whiteball sides unless there comes a time he's either good enough to warrant selection as a specialist bat, or he learns to bowl left-arm. His limited overs bowling is as bad as I can ever remember from anyone as it is. An utter liability with the ball. I'd rather Munro's bowling.

Really? That sounds kind of absurd..

I like Worker, and he's a really useful player to have in the mix, but I wouldn't rate him above Chapman anyway.

Athlai

Not Terrible
I suppose the idea was Worker is more of a top order bat and therefore closer to like for like. Bit silly IMO.

NZTailender

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Worker hasn't done much wrong in Blackcaps clothing, so I wouldn't have been too dismayed if he had been selected. I kinda hope they promote someone else up to 3 rather than Chapman because he seems more like a natural 4 or 5.

I'd assume Taylor or Nicholls would bat 3 if Williamson is left out. I kinda think Williamson may play and we'll drop Nicholls though

Really looking forward to watching "our kid" Chappy play in the longer format - for me, when he has longer to work into his innings, is when he really shines. And the, just test match cricket for him...(no pressure Mark)
