Well, yes. And all while we're missing our best ODI batsman and best ODI seamer. And yeah, we are playing India in India in ODIs. Never expected us to do particularly well.
I've always though he was a better Test than ODI bowler, but I've backed him in one-dayers since he impressed me so much during the World Cup. It's easy to forget that there really isn't a seamer to replace him that has put in those kind of international performances before - the only one I can think of would be Chris Tremlett, and that's a lot more of a cross-format gamble.hate to say it but Bresnan is not a One day bowler, he has just too many poor days and doesn't take enough wickets.
Lol typicalLet us know when you're playing proper cricket India.
It's probably more that he looks the part. Got the Tony N Guy hair and the earings etc. Pretty lad. Always favorable in modern English sport.Dernbach, who is he blowing in the English setup?
yeah looks like Christiano Ronaldo though Ronaldo is probably a better bowler. It's probably more that he looks the part. Got the Tony N Guy hair and the earings etc. Pretty lad. Always favorable in modern English sport.
I think the problem is that Bresnan is no more than ok at ODI level, his biggest failing IMO is that he's rarely economical, which he can get away with to an extent if he takes wickets - problem is that doesn't really happen often enough either. He's not good enough to lead the attack when Broad and Anderson aren't there. I think he's just about good enough to be the third quick (particularly when you factor in his ability with the bat) but at the moment he's no better than that.I've always though he was a better Test than ODI bowler, but I've backed him in one-dayers since he impressed me so much during the World Cup. I think he's worth perservering with for now, especially considering how his batting has been valuable lately, and that he'd still be part of the Test and T20 sides.
Edit: Of course, now that we've lost the series, we've little to lose, so it doesn't really matter. I mean persevering with over the next couple of ODI series.
No he looks like Nico Tortorella, as mentioned by me a couple of pages back.yeah looks like Christiano Ronaldo though Ronaldo is probably a better bowler.
You also need to consider that we're touring without Broad, Anderson and Morgan, have a rookie captain and we're blooding youngsters like Bairstow. We were atrocious in 2008, we got gubbed in every game. I don't really recall any positives from the last tour; at least this time Patel and Finn have had decent tours and Pietersen may yet be getting back into form in the 50 over game. We can afford to take a long term view with this series. So it turns out that Keiswetter and Dernbach are complete duds - who'd have thought it, eh?
The most worrying thing about this tour is that we seem to have actually gone backwards since we were thrashed there in 2008/09, especially when you consider how many key players India are missing. Didn't think it was possible, but there you go.
Spot on.We can afford to take a long term view with this series.
Guy's just a machine in ODIs isn't he? I swear there was a period 2-3 years ago when it seemed like every ODI scorecard or report had him not out at the end when India had successfully chased.Pretty good win!!
Dhoni is just awesome in ODI's. Stayed calm even though some of the others had made it more difficult than it should have been after the early middle overs.
Yeah, that's been the worst aspect of it - the fielding, and the frustration that'sbeen shown at times when things are going wrong.Spot on.
Expect to lose but okay if they learn from it and improve. Disappointed at some of the fielding - no excuse for that.
It doesn't help that the White ball doesn't swing anymore. Takes out arguably his main weapon.Bresnan is not a One day bowler, he has just too many poor days and doesn't take enough wickets.
