I'm still waiting for this Tendulkar fellow to stage his "amazing comeback"

Noticed him getting out to Lancashire 2nd XI today..
Keep waiting. Tendulkar has NEVER delivered under pressure (like Gavaskar, Dravid and Waugh etc.) and, as I have posted for years, is way overrated. It is heresy to say anything against him or some of the other pathetic Indian players (who make money and then stop performing - check it out: it is a long list) because people in India or on this board want to live in la la land.

It's about time these guys were booed off the field. About time.

The list of 'decliners':
Zaheer Khan
Ashish Nehra
Sehwag
Pathan
Parthiv Patel
Tendulkar
Ganguly (he, who inducted Deep Das Gupta as opener to save his slot)

Didn't see much today.

I feel sorry for Tendulkar, he's gave 16 years service to Indian cricket, he of all people does not deserve to be booed of the ground.

What do the selectors do now? Take the brave option and drop him? or hope he comes good in the end? Matty Hayden went 30 innings without but is now on a run fest, will Sachin do the same?

I don't know what to say, from what i've seen of Sachin, he looks worse than someone who's out of touch, as much as i hate to say it, he looks like he's gone, i can only hope he isn't.

He's been good in fits-and-starts, much the same as Gilchrist, in my view, this signifies a player who's over the hill.
"Service of Indian Cricket" - are you nuts. This is professional sport - there is no 'service' to India. Only 'service' to yourself. Wake-up guys - stop living in the 70s.

Dean Jones, the former Australian Test batsman turned-commentator:

“Steve Waugh has won two World Cups, seven Ashes, 13 World Series. So if you ask me who I prefer, Waugh or Sachin Tendulkar, I would say Waugh,” he says. “What has Sachin won? He came close to winning the World Cup, but Australia ran away with that match.”

Ok. Sycophants - let's hear the defense.

All this talk about dropping Tendulkar is ignoring the fact that many great batsmen go through awful spells, often long ones, but come good again eventually and when they do its marvellous and Im sure Tendulkar will follow suit
So no matter how awfully he is batting, Sachin has a free ride in the test team until he retires, based on what he's done about five years ago?

Just noticed. Seven Ashes. Considering the strength of England in the 90's, I'm sure Sachin would have

...had India ever played an Ashes series.

Oh my Sachin gone to Anderson. Shocking shot.

India in all sorts of trouble now.
Aww, come on he is just human. After all the yeoman service to Indian cricket we should lethim play at least 30 tests without scoring. You guys are too harsh

Quick question when was the last time Sehwag made runs on a pitch which wasn't a road or in game that wasn't already won or loss?
Or the pitch wasn't flat.

The answer - he performed BEFORE he started doing all those ads on TV. Check it out.

Wrong. Well, you should read some of my posts from many series ago...that's of course when you are not trying to be smart putting my posts down with oh-so-clever comments...Any time I raised Tendilkar's problems I practically got assaulted on this board.

Did anyone hear what Shah said about Azhar in his interview ? According to Cricinfo :-

Shah said the batting lessons he received from the former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin when he came to India in 2004 had helped him launch his Test career with a flourish. Shah, who made 88 in England's first innings score of 400, said Azharuddin's tips were invaluable and he had stuck to them diligently. "I came down to India after hearing Azhar was opening a cricket academy," he said. "He put me up in a hotel for ten days and gave me batting lessons and after going back to England I stuck to these. They helped me here."

Well atleast Azhar bhai is doing some good things with his money. I am happy for Shah, hope he makes Azhar proud. Azhar is one of my fav. cricketers of all time and I hope his academy does well and he gets a chance to redeem himself.

TBF the undisputed number one team have just recalled two ageing warhorses for their current tour, so it's not perhaps as cut and dried as that!
Difference being that those 2 are performing...

In the course of the 89-2003 period in which Waugh won his 7 Ashes, India and England played 5 times, for two wins apiece and a draw. :p

Not that I think that is solely the fault of Tendulkar or the brilliance of Waugh, just pointing it out.

I'd like to see some names of batsmen who've been through such long slumps and returned as good as ever.

To be fair, Martyn averaged something in the 20s in the Pura Cup season between being dropped and being recalled, and didn't set the world on fire in the ODIs either. I don't think he should have been dropped in the first place, but apparently he needed to go and perform poorly for a while so Hodge could score a double century and they could drop him.

In short - any inexplicable decisions your selectors make, we can match.
