***Official*** England in India

I agree with Nasser, England didn't bowl particularly well in that little period they had at the Indian batsman. They didn't bowl badly, but they should have made India play more (particularly Sehwag), and picking up a wicket just before tea would have been invaluable.

Agreed. Hoggy, particularly, was consistently too wide of the off stump. Jaffer only too happy to let the ball go prior to tea. There looks to be a fair bit of swing out there tho, so the post-tea session will be interesting.

What are your comments on Irfan's bowling? Only 17 overs and he wasn't brought back... How is the pitch? I can't get access to the screen right now.

Anyone seen Colville's laptop? I'm convinced he's got CW loaded up on it. :D
Bumble used to be a fan of the duck - there was obviously a connection on a fairly mental level.

Oh no, it was the other way around (out, damned arthropod)

There seems to be a problem with this new opening partnership for India. They average a little over 20 for the first wicket, with just one partnership over 50. Compare that with the number of 50 plus partnerships that Sehwag and Gambhir had, or even Sehwag and Chopra. Maybe they work better as a pair than Sehwag and Jaffer. Both seem to be playing their own game, and one doesn't understand the other's, from what we've seen of them.

Another day, another typically pathetic batting performance from England, Flintoff does his usual comfortable cameo and then switches to village idiot slogger mode.

Left to the bowlers to do all the work, as usual.

If that's not a high benchmark set, can we assume that the pitch is one of the flattest around?

I think any England supporter would have taken 400 at the start of the match. I beleive its the highest first inning score by the away team at this stadium for 32 years

Oh Jaffer, what a crap way to get out.

I thought he was out like that before the tea-break when it looked like he gloved a legside ball. Instead he does it after tea.

Sachin in now with Dravid.

At least we reached 400. It would be easy to criticise the seeming collapse after the 4th and 5th Wickets but in my bid to remain positive, 400 is a good total.

And a great start to out bowling

well I think some people think that you are only successful if you hit 500 every innings
