Great start from Panesar - manages to split slip and keeper for four byes with one that pitched outside leg stump, then follows with a more than decent LBW shout.

The 4 byes show how tough it will be to bat in the 4th inning. This is why I feel the runs England have made today are so vital.

England fans will be happy to finally have some who looks like a genuine spinner from first looks. (no pun intended)

What did you make of the "catch" to Bell? I'm only following this on Cricinfo, so I don't know how good a shout it was.

Bell was perfectly within rights to give it a shout - it definitely hit Jaffer's boot - but also quite as obviously hit the ground.

at first it looked like it was a good catch, but replay showed it clearly hit the ground very close to Jaffers foot...a fair appeal..and good use of technology I think

Monty is bowling superbly. But I dont expect him to take the wicket of Jaffer or Dravid some how at this point.

He needs someone to keep up the pressure at the other end. Poor stuff from Harmison, AFAICS. Presumably Fred will have to bring himself on soon.
