So apart from Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, when has his bowling helped India win a game?
against sri lanka and south africa recently. he was poor in pakistan, but two of those tracks were lifeless. he hasnt been consistent, but he definitely has potential. maybe you arent watching him enough.

It has been the regulars who have failed with the bat, though. None of Strauss, Bell, Pietersen, Flintoff or Jones passed fifty. I have a feeling that Collingwood may now be considered a "regular" though after that innings.
The problem comes when Vaughan and Trescothick return.

Without changing the shape it's 1 from Strauss or Cook and 2 from Bell, Pietersen or Collingwood.

Jaffer looks solid on the leg side .. real solid
Yup ! Much much better than the awfully flashy-trashy Gambhir. G'byt Gambhir - at least I hope so...God, he had so so many chnaces - what does it take to see he doesn't belong - I hope they give jaffer half the opportunities Gambhir got...

I have a feeling it will be Cook and Bell that will go. Cook's only played one game and only scored 60 odd... good debut but nothing that screams "Drop Andrew Strauss." It wasnt that long ago that Bell came in for the injured Vaughan and Collingwood was in the first choice XI, and considering Collingwood's last few matches, I think it's safe to say that he'll be picked in front of Bell. You could always drop Pietersen but I dont see think that's likely.

actually, i think gambhir has a big future for india still. jaffer looks good so far, but i think gambhir had taken his place for granted and wasn't applying himself enough. he got that century in the warmup match just after being dropped. either way, it's good to have a strong competition between the two openers.

srinath: "if you're a batsman you can become a bowler, but if you're a bowler it's very hard to become a batsman"

what do you think guys?

You can't drop Bell at the moment!

He was our best player in Pakistan along with Collingwood & Trescothick.

Srinath: Hoe-guard

just give up dude
You either get him lbw or out bowel.

The worst part of the Srinath commentary is not his pronounciation or his language though. It is how he tries to use a brain and act intellegent.

As i bowling for most of his career, so also in commentary.

You can if you're dropping him to accomodate Collingwood, IMO.

There are only three middle order places for specialist batsmen to occupy. One of them is taken by the captain, leaving two left for genuine competition, and three realistic possibilities.

Averages In Pakistan:
Bell 52.16
Collingwood 47.25
Pietersen 33.50

Career Averages (Matches v Minnows Not Included):
Pietersen 43.06
Collingwood 42.90
Bell 31.28

Scores In This Match:
Collingwood 134*
Pietersen 15
Bell 9

Srinath on Flintoff:

This guy is massive. I hope he is one guy who doesn't care about what the dietician says. He has to eat, and bowel fadt, and last long.

Dont know about eating but Freddie loves his beers Mr. Srinath.
