Solanki bowled by Powar. Nice one Vik. 8-)
Solanki, there's another player who shouldn't play ODI cricket, he's been around the side for ages but done nothing apart from his great 100 V South Africa.

I honestly can't fathom why he's been around the side for so long whihout scoring any runs, he has shown time and time again he can't cut it at this level.

Pleasing to see Strauss progressing well here, hopefully he'll be able to go on, get a hundred and prove to everyone that he can bat in ODIs as an opener.

Assuming there's no one to swing the white ball at him in the first five overs, he's fine.

Oh wait...

He's retired with exhaustion/cramp now. Good knock, albeit against some bad bowling.

This game is now officially over. A couple of quick wickets a few overs ago and India would still have had a shot, but not now.

Watching RP Singh bowl you get to appreciate that Sajid Mahmood, Kabir Ali and co are not that bad.

Yeah this is what we need, fast bowlers from India bowling over 140+... yet going at 6 an over and getting spanked around the park. 8-)

The day some Indian fans realise that, particularly in ODIs, that pace isn't everything, is the day they realise how valuable Pathan is as a bowler in ODI cricket. He's owned Strauss this ODI series with swing and accuracy at the start of the innings.

This obsession with pace is getting stupid by some fans. Don't get me wrong, I like that we are getting some young quick bowlers and that they are getting a game, and Sreesanth and Patel were brilliant in their test appearances, but by gee pace isn't everything.

Bracken, Pollock, Pathan and McGrath should make that obvious in ODIs.
It does baffle me how Bracken, Pollock, Pathan and McGrath can be so successful in ODIs, whilst Hoggard - who is England's equivalent 80mph swing bowler, is less use than a hot water bottle would be in Jamshedpur today.

First thought was maybe it's a length thing - but Pathan & Bracken are equally full, maybe a reverse swing thing - no, Hoggy can do that - maybe it's cutters and slower balls, nope (ask Veeru). I don't get it.

Aah.. thanx.

Does anyone reckon he's a better option than Harbhajan?
Not sure if Phil Taylor's a better option than Harbhajan, but I can't believe he'd be much less use than Ian Blackwell is...

Good win by England, Strauss and Bell batted beautifully at the start. Anderson was good with the ball as well.

I understand that all 3 of these fast bowlers, including Sreesanth as well, are the future of Indian bowling along with Irfan, and they've done well in the past but playing them all in one ODI was very risky. Hopefully Pathan returns for the 7th game, he's vital to India's ODI outfit, with bat and ball.
