***Official*** England in India

Congratz Engand. I did not think India would capitulate so easily. Well deserved win either way with some of the main line players missing.

That single shot should cost Dhoni his test career. Scoring centuries here and there are all well and good, but its times like these when the team needs you to follow a plan. You say you don't know how to bat any other way? Well start learning, or get the hell out of the team.

Congratulations to England. Dravid got it right at the conference. There seemed to be a collective loss of reason. All credit to England though for bowling the right lines and right areas.

Udal today proved that you can't predict anything in sport, ever.. making pretty much the whole of cricket chat totally pointless..

congrats to england! well fought throughout the series and a deservedly won 3rd test! the batting lineup has too many holes for india and we are relying on the lower middle and the tail to haul us out of tight spots far too often....the one bright spot is that the bowling front looks great with some fine talents coming through....now if they are handled well over the next 2-3 years, we could have a good and varied bowling attack......such a pleasant prospect after having one of the weakest attacks in international cricket for such a long time.....:)

Lol, great post.

The 434 chase by SA plus Udal's performance here should really result in the deletion of this board :p

Entire board up for the Tony greig award on a permanent basis?

We have all read things of late like:

Australia will win this, I would put my life on it

India will win 3-0 for sure(this was everywhere)

Seems as Shaun Udal is playing, England need about 700 I know it was a joke, but still

Flintoff's captaincy will result in him continuing to fail with the bat, and will take away from his bowling

Obviously none of these are direct quotes, but some of them were pretty much common sentiments round here. I think Langedvelt has a very good point!

8-)

I am making a Temple of Parthiv Patel, where we mere men can go and worship the greatness that is Parthiv.

I would watch my tongue if I were you heathen, for the God has a short temper. His wrath is matched only by his glovework behind the stumps.

Not bad for a 12 year old is he.

I can't describe my anger right now. I should ****ing be out there batting instead of these shitfaces.
You, and this Board, are a ship of fools. You were living in fantasy land on days 1,2 and 3. When I was expressing sentiments like these you were all upset. Now look at you. Watch your language and blood pressure. It's only a stupid game for fat people like Sehwag to make money by scoring in one out of 20 innings.

And what a perfoamnce by Yuvraj and Dhoni - the famed Young Brigade. Between them they dropped more catches than VVS and Ganguly have done in 20 tests.

Enjoy your life in la-la-land

Different rules for VVS and Ganguly.

Different rules for Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Dhoni, Sehwag.

India will NEVER be #1 in test cricket as long as Chappel (who failed as a coach in Australia) is in charge.

You're really hung up on this money thing, aren't you? Indian cricket stars don't make that much, compared to the sports here in the US.

OK . Pathetic loss by team india. We are starting to have a feel of dravid's captaincy now. One-dayers has been ok for him.
The problem seems to be in test cricket with india. After dravid took over as captain, india lost the test series against pakistan 1-0, won against lanka 2-0, tied with England -B team 1-1 (shame). All these games were mostly in subcontinent where the chances of winning against england, aus, nz,wi etc were very good.
I think the problem in general seems to be two fold. Dravid's bad luck with toss, where he ended up batting second in most of the tests and playing catch-up for most of the matches. In all these matches we either see a draw or opposing team win.
But the major problem seems to be the failure of the so called "famed batting line-up". We should get laxman in test team soon along with possibly one-more middle order bat. Lets forget about kaif. He plays well once in 8 innnings.Kaif is not a long term solution for tests.
Tendulkar may have to open if he has to keep his place in the test team and more importantly score. Jaffer showed poor application in last 2 tests, but i think he must be persisted. sehwag has to be dropped for a series along with harbhajan.
Thirdly the fielding has to be good. You cannot drop 10 catches and win matches.!!!!!
So my test team for the next test series is
Jaffar/Tendulkar
Gambhir/Sehwag/Akash chopra
Dravid
Laxman
Yuvraj
Middle order batsman
Dhoni
Pathan
Munaf
Sreesanth/RP Singh
Kumble
I hope laxman come back stronger for the good of indian cricket. India also should keep their eyes open for another middle order bat to replace laxman, if they find one.Mmmm. ...All in all tough times ahead for dravid. Who said captaining india is easy.. Ask ganguly about it.

Isn't cricket just the best game ever?

It's got to be the best sport for players getting their time in the spotlight, every player get's a chance to shine, look at Udal today, completely useless for the most part, yet he plays a pivitol part in England's victory and gets the spotlight.

i'm sorry, but i just get frustrated when all the england players say how tough it is to come and win in india. Wat a load of crap! They just say this to make their win seem more emphatic and if they lose, it makes it seem normal. If it is diffcult 4 them to win in india, it is difficult for other teams, like india to *** and win in england. yet, no other team uses this excuse like england does. i dont see the aussies sayin that winning in england is difficult cos of the conditions. wat a lame excuse england have :@ *** up with.

Well i've a big smile on my face.

I though Simon Taufel was superb today with the LBW calls, quite a few close uns and he seemed to make the right decision each time.

I think i said earlier in this thread how i though Bedi was an awful commentator, well today when i was going to work, India were six down, and Bedi was there saying that as the game was now over, the only thing left for Dhoni and Yuvraj to do was go for the big hits to get in shape for the ODI's...
