dalm Harmison now i out of the ODI series, england whole injury dilemma this series has been really funny.

looking at the OD sqaud this is my guess of what the best side out of that should look like:

Strauss
Prior
Solanki
Pietersen
Flintoff
Collingwood
Jones
Blackwell
Ali
Plunkett
Anderson

You've got most of it right, but I personally would go for Bell over Solanki, as he deserves a chance in the top order in ODIs, rather than at number 6/7/10.

I'd also give Hoggy another shot at the expense of Kabir. He's earned it, I think - if he can get his ODI performances right he'll be far more useful than Kabir for sure.

I have a funny feeling that Tendulkar is going to bat us off the park in the second innings.
i have been hoping for that kind of innings from the guy for a long time now....but it just hasn't happened....:@ and with each failure it is looking less likely.....

I'd argue that with each failure it's looking more likely - but then I come from the "form is temporary, class is permanent" school of thinking. :)

yea your right Bell should be given a go over Solanki. But with Hoggard well his bowling could be more useful if he gets it right but his lower-order batting could be a problem.

Hoggard's situation reminds me of South Africa when he was great in the test series and was made a mockery in the OD series, i fear the same can happen again againts India since the pitches will be flat and India have some blokes take can make him look pretty ordinary

Hoggard being called into the ODI squad seems like a shocker to me - he's just not suited to the shorter form of the game - figures of 4-0-65-2 in a T/20 game suggest that. His length is too easily picked up into the stands and Dhoni could murder him... unless the "new" Hoggard has transformed himself in ODIs too - McGrath and Pollock can do it, and MJH isn't too far behind them in current form.

Thinking about it, there actually weren't any other alternatives except Rikki Clarke or Stuart Broad!

If England are able to win the Mumbai Test, it would be a huge achievement for England and they will be a legitimate contender for no. 2.

Also, Flintoff should remain the captain, Vaughan's batting is a liability.

I woke up this morning and the first thing I saw on TV was Udal taking a wicket....a very strange experience
As a student, waking up before midday can be strange.

TMS discussing Sehwag's current absence from the field - what are the rules about the circumstances in which he wouldn't be allowed to bat above number seven? I can't remember.
It depends how long he's off.

If more than 15 minutes he can't bat until that length of time has elapsed or 5 wickets have fallen, whichever is sooner.

Trouble with KP & Fred is we really haven't seen either of them produce a prolonged innings on this tour.
To be fair to Flintoff only once has he been dismissed after batting less than 2 hours, and he batted 80 minutes on that occasion.

I don't think prior has any right to be there over Shah, I don't see him suceeding at the top of the order in ODIs just yet, and i think Shah deserves a chance.

I nearly threw up when i realised how poor our bowlings going to be in this series, Jimmy and Fred are good enough, but how much is 30 overs from Ali, Blackwell and Plunkett going to cost us?

Think you're being a bit harsh on Plunkett there.

But he's a completley differnet player now than he was then, he hit a great 64 in one game when Tres got a ton and everyone said he was set for a great future, but like a lot of Aussie players, he got dropped.

Just because he didn't make the best of his first chance doesn't mean that we should ignore him for the furture.

I don't think Plunkett's bad, but you can hardly say he's world class, and i fear Dhoni might give him a bit of stick.

Big session tommorrow morning (you know it's a good test match when you keep saying that) I feel an Oval day might be on the horizon a couple of early wickets for India England under a pressure with everybody losing their heads. Up steps Pietersen and smashes a run a ball hundred after an early let off, probably dropped by Dravid.

Goes to sleep full of optimism, comes home from work tommorrow to find its been a Multan/Lahore/Mohali day with India getting a couple of early wickets, KP getting cought on the boundry trying to slog Harbhajan out of the ground. And then the lower order perform their usual party trick of folding like a deck chair in a hurricane.

Anyway its alarm clock set for 4am, coffee at the ready and sky plus (the most unreliable piece of junk) set for 7:45am when I have to go to work - my boss wouldn't give me the day off
