22 100s, 10000 runs, 60 50s..IMO he has done exceptionally well and If anyone had asked me to pick one ODI batsman between 1996 and 2002, it would have been him.
Like i said, Ganguly is an alltime great ODI batsman but Tendulkar has bona fide claims ( along with Viv and Bevan) to be the GREATEST ODI batsman ever.
Ganguly is a level below but that is no shame.
Tendy is a class apart from Gangs even in ODIs.

One change for the next test Plunkett out and Shaun Udal in ( Udal last chance)

One thing though is that the success of Mounty Panesar means we do not have to put up with Giles for much Longer

I not a great fan of Flintoff as a Skipper though

We are not talking about class or technique, we are talking about performance in the field and Ganguly has done pretty well and there was a time in his career (until 2002-2003) when he could nothing wrong as an ODI batsman. Bevan's class

Ganguly's popularity and average went down in last 2 years when he refused to accept that he was not the same batsmen he used to be, something Sachin seems to be doing right now at least in tests.
class and technique directly translates to performance on the field and ganguly while being an exceptional one day opener for much of his career and an effective one day bowler in helpful conditions for part of his career cannot be compared to tendulkar who has simply had an incredible one day career....and all those stats that you listed above are certainly impressive but are dwarfed by tendulkar's, you know that....and maybe you would've picked him between '96 and '02 and someone else might pick bevan, for me, the only batsman who can rival tendulkar as a one day batsman is richards, no one else....and for sheer longevity and consistency, not even him.....bevan comes a distant third.....ganguly is not even there in the same country with these three.....

Watch 1996-2002 India matches.
i have watched plenty of them and tendulkar was so comprehensively better that a comparison between them is ridiculous.....he was superb on the offside but an extremely limited onside player and a very poor player against bounce...tendulkar was so much more complete....

As I said, you are once again talking about technique, I am talking about the actual runs scored in that period and I dont think one could seperate the two.

I have and i still maintain that Tendy is a class apart from Gangs. Besides, class is with whole career in perspective. Not just a period. At times Ganguly could match Tendulkar but overall he is left in Tendulkar's shadow - in ODI cricket as well as Test cricket.

Ganguly's one of the all-time greatest one-day batsmen, without doubt. Still, he isn't in Tendulkar's class.
Yup.
And viv and Bevan apart, no one else is either.

More evasion.

It's obvious the connnection, but since you can't answer it to support your case, you avoid it.
You have made a supposition to the connection, not stated a case for the connection.

You've been saying the same thing for the last ten posts or so, and the guy you're debating with isn't gonna respond the way you want him to anytime soon. So give it up and make a useful contribution to the thread, please.

Forever, What nonsense are you talking about ?? Just when did Sachin Pass Sunny Gavaskar's 10122 runs ?? Let me guess against Pakistan in Banglore in 2005, which is roughly about a year. That may be 'forever' for a blinded fan like you, to me it is still about a year and the way Rahul Dravid is playing there is a good chance that it will not last long. Just for record Bedi held the 'Wighest wicket taker for India' record longer than Sachin has 'Highest runmaker for India'.
Come on now Sanz, you know I was referring to international runs, because when one discusses how much someone has given to their nation in cricket, ODIs is taken into account.
