Gaaa! If he's given more of a chance, he'll settle down. Anyway, Panesar's just gone for 2 4s :p

And gone past the outside edge....

I shall stop the Blackwell-bashing as it really isn't fair even if it is fun. :D

Yeah because he went out playing a stupid shot didn't he? No he got an absolute gem of a ball on his first delivery he was facing. I'd hardly blame him for that. Hell, at least he didn't get bowled.

Dhoni and Pathan played some stupid shots, and considering all Kaif needed was someone to stick around with him, their shots were even more criminal.
You're right here, I'm being too rough on Laxman because that was a real gem of a delivery from Hoggard. But as someone said during the Ind-Pak series (maybe you?), Laxman has a habit of getting these gems bowled to him ... not that he's to blame for it.

As for Kaif, the first delivery he got was also a in-cutter, perhaps not as good as the one Laxman got, but pretty good. He was expecting the swing and defended it inside-out to short cover. Laxman is a class batsman and I'm a big fan of his, but he gets out way too often to the incoming delivery.

Of today's dismissals, Jaffer, Tendulkar, Dhoni and Pathan should be faulted, even though their wickets came off some good bowling from the English attack. Jaffer went for an unnecessary waft, Tendulkar just looked bad against an ordinary delivery, Dhoni went too aggressive when the team needed stability and Pathan chased a wide-one without foot movement. Dravid wasn't out .. Laxman's ball was a gem I'll agree.

Look, if you're standing in the outfield all day having only been allowed to bowl 6 overs watching the other spinner wheel away at the other end, you're hardly going to be full of confidence, are you?

Here's where Fred stuffs up. Panesar and Blackwell - not likely to cause Kumble as many problems as the seamers.

Tis true. I wonder why they don't give Collingwood a go? Maybe his back's not up to it...

This is really turning out to be an intriguing match now. Both times around, one opener scored heavily (Cook & Jaffer), the captain played a good innings and got an unfair dismissal (Flintoff & Dravid), the other "proven" middle-order bats failed and the one-day specialists who only got a place because of injuries (Collingwood & Kaif) led a recovery and the tail wagged quite well ... at least so far, let's see if India can continue this comeback.

If you're an honest, hardworking (if not very good) tail end batsman. You getting put at 11 and watching the other (rather podgy) spinner go in at 8 and look completely out of his depth and end up slogging the ball onto his own stumps isn't nice, either. :p :p :p

As much as Python's great, it doesn't look (on a computer screen) like he's gonna get a wicket. Time to give someone else a go, Fred.

LMAO! Conveniently ripped that out with India 7 down.
well probably, but you cant doubt a full-strenght england attack has what it takes to restrict india in these conditions.

yes, but it's better not to go into the "what if?s". what if yuvraj singh had played, he's a great pressure player. what if simon jones had played, he's a great exponent of reverse swing. hell, what if sourav ganguly had played, he's supposedly pathetic against pace ... but with his career on the line, maybe he would have scored big. you have a point, but let's avoid talking of the absence of simon jones, he's good but no mcgrath who dominates nearly every time he bowls.

why is it that after we win something big like the ashes loads of players get injured?
Erm how many times in the recent past has England big things in cricket? After you come up with that, come up with how many times there have been situations of player injuries.

Great !

Now we need Kaif to remain unbeaten with a moderately large hundred, Harbhajan to do a Harmison and Sreesanth to stick around with Kaif to add 60 odd :)

That will make my day.

Why does Harmison have about the same average speed today as Sreesanth? He's supposed to be express isn't he?
