Agarwal made me do it!!
Insight on the internal rift that forced Watt out of the CW XI.
Berry True

Huge discussion circulated around CWLand when top bowling prospect Dave Watt withdrew from the Cricket Web XI training camp, and effectively from the One Day International squad. Watt, who has 39 wickets in 27 ODIs, cited a desire to fulfil his contract for Western Australia, rather than comply with the CWBCC-mandated training camp.

Sources suggest that a major reason for Watt's withdrawal is a rift between himself and new coach Pratyush Agarwal. There are suggestions that the two do not see eye to eye and Watt is hesitant to play under Agarwal. When contacted for comment, Watt confirmed these sentiments. "I don't agree with the new coach and his attitudes," he said.

The move could set a precedent for the CW XI in the future, and is certainly a point of concern as far as those involved in the administration of the sport in CWLand are concerned. There have long been rumblings over the acceptance of Agarwal to the coaching role, and this is the first public sign of such discontent. This is the first major challenge to be addressed by the coach, and it will certainly be a test of his character and resolve if he is to encourage the players to not only support him, but gel under his guidance.

Asked to comment on the situation, CWBCC co-chairman Liam Camps stated, "It's a disappointing decision, and I've talked to Dave about it. He has his reasons though, and I respect that. It certainly doesn't bode well as far as his future selection is concerned though, and I've let him know that."

Agarwal's press release

It is a disappointment that Watt has withdrawn. I would like to categorically state that I had nothing to do with the decision.

Indeed it is, but i think what pratyush is trying to say is that, he doesnt know of anything that could have caused this?

i question whether a player should take a sppot in the domestic compitiion if they arent willing/able to wear the national jersey

I wouldn't take it that far. I mean, there are a lot of retired players still in the league, obviously.

McNamara Strikes Out at Mamesh
CW Colts selector Jack McNamara today vented his frustration at Thamba Mamesh's decision to defect to CW Red, after his stellar season at the top of the order for CW Colts.

"What really riled me was that Mamesh was given more opportunity than anyone else in the side last year. Part of this was due to his performances, but we put a lot of faith in Thamba early in the year when his results weren't all that great, and yet after what we've done for him, he goes and turns his back on the people who have, if we look at this frankly, given him the leg up to national duty."

When asked if he thought it was in Mamesh's own best interests to leave, McNamara once more disagreed. "Surely Mamesh needs to thrive in a high pressure situation when he isn't playing for the CW XI - which hopefully he will do regularly from now on, because he has the talent to. And with Red being, traditionally - and probably statistically - a stronger side than the Colts, how better can Mamesh prepare himself for the rigours of Test cricket than have the pressure of being a Domestic side's best batsman?"

"I think it's just a vendetta to keep the CW Colts down the bottom. We know what sides' were against the inclusion of a whole lot of rookies, and that's what we tend to be - and we also note where our best players get poached towards."

More to come, later...

u cant pull out of the national team because u dont like somebody
Yes, yes you can.

However he didn't pull out of the national team, he pulled out of a training camp.

But not for reasons of lack of fitness or a pressing matter that would prevent him from playing competitive cricket. I made it clear to him that by pulling out of the camp - a CWBCC mandate - he was pulling out of the ODI squad, and potentially ruining his chances at making the World Cup squad.
