Kennett races against time
Fast bowler participates in emergency training session
David Kennett has been spotted training vigorously with CW XI coach Tharmi Loganathan in the indoor facilities at Newlands. The leading CW XI fast bowler was said to be undergoing an intense session of coaching, in attempts to consolidate his action and to return to an effective rhythm with the ball.
Kennett started the tour of South Africa well, taking 10 wickets against the might of Free State, but has struggled since. In the Tests he has returned hauls of 1-49, 1-43, 1-76 and 1-44, and is under severe pressure to maintain his spot, with the likes of Kyle Wright in the squad, though admittedly plying his trade without much luck.
Sources close to the team say that the training regimen is effectively a race against time, as the coaching staff desperately attempt to get the key bowler back into form for the crucial third Test match, starting tomorrow in Cape Town. The Cricket Web XI are 2-0 down in the 5-game series, and need to avoid defeat to remain in contention in the series.
