1st Test New Zealand vs CricketwebXI - 20-Friday, February 2004
Played at Eden park, Auckland

Pitch report: Bowlers wicket no doubt, lots of visible green grass tinge on the pitch.. whoever wins the toss should bowl first and create some early pressure on the batting side, there will be extra bounce and the carry to the keeper will be very good , also lot of seam movement and movement of the pitch aswell..
As for the weather.. its a sunny day today..although its forecasted light cloud later on with continued fine breaks..

Toss...

Heads is the call from Stephen Flemming.... Heads it is..New Zealand win the toss and Flemming chose to bowl..

What your say Stephen?

S.Flemming: Looks like a good pitch to bowl on given the bowlers attack on a good length.. no doubt this will be a good game , and im sure CWXI have learnt from their mistakes in their tour games.. its a totally different ball game here.. and hopefully we start of on the right track with a win ..

Blewy you look disappointed losing the toss mate ..?

Blewy: Ah yea no doubt, we've seen how winning the toss can play a key role in the matches here, and i was hoping we could win that and get of to a much needed good start..we've been back to test match cricket after quite a long break.. and hopefully we get back into things right from the start.. we have learnt a lot from the tour games and hopefully we can prove a good fight to nz..

Thanks a lot blewy..

Blewy: No worries mate

Thats it from here...no doubt we will have an entertaining days play here.. the players will come out shortly..

Would it be possible, now I've had the gloves nicked off me (;)), to go back to where I was before? Seem to be suited to opening more than anywhere else.

This is of course if I remain in the side. :(.

Good game guys, need to step it up a level though. Maybe the return of Cloete will do the biz for us. :)

Good luck.

I'm impressed with Eyes' enthusiasm. That's always a good thing for a 'keeper.
Keep putting me in the team as Keeper and you can have as much enthusiasm as you want!! :P ;)

You bat at 6, not 7 :)

hehe at the expense of bugs. I guess the selectors must have been as impressed with his bowling as i was. Considering he's supposed to be a part-timer. Hopefully I can get a few overs and show them what I have :D. Very handy ODI bowling average :)

yer thanks vc

good to see that i have been one of the more consistant players of the tour so far, although i am not setting the world a light however i am averaging 31 on tour with the bat,a nd taking wickets, but drop me from 6 - 7

i can live with that , i dont like my vc laughing at me, i will just have to re injure him again :P

Another dismal batting peformance on a pretty dodgy pitch.. im going to write a letter to the NZ cricket board to make the 3rd pitch a bit competitive at least.. its not entertaining at all to see a one sided test match ...just keep working hard on your technique players and dont lose any morale..

Injury

Mr Ponting - Calf Strain - 3 weeks ( 3rd test , 1st ODI , 2nd ODI )

Neil Pickup - Flu - 1 week ( 3rd test )

told you , you require a jumper when you go out at night here.. even if its summer neil..

i think mr ponting had a slight niggle and the workload he has been having as the senior fast bowler for the cwxi might have added a bit of pressure..
