Yeah i agree with Liam 7 ODI's would be a definate advantage coming into the WC.. It would give us a big opportunity to play a few new guys in a bid to try things before the WC..

but then i thought of switching to 3 tests and 5 odis..just because we need more test match experience

Someone needs to make up their mind methinks.

Just to clarify i was also under the impression that it was 3 tests....

Maybe there was a bit of a misunderstanding...
Think Blewy's comment shows there was slight misunderstanding and people should ease up a little. :)

Much needed draw..

some good all round cricket in the game..

Day 1 was affected due to rain so only 4 days of play could be gotten thru..

Good battin from captain blewy 58 and 74.. who held together really well with star batsmen for the CWXI Cloete - 33 and 130..

We did quite well getting 333 in the first innings good contribution from the lower/middle order in that innings nice determination shown by bugs to get 41 , MB 44 and Eddie in his final performance for the cwxi probably with a good 47 unlucky to miss out on a 50 had a slight nick on a ball movin away from his slightly which carried to the hands of Mark Richardson at 2nd slip from the bowling of adams..

Great bowling from young upcoming fast bowler Wright who took 4/60 ...tight line and length , constantly beat the bat..

Massive 393 in the 2nd innings from the CWXI and a draw was certain here..but new zealand looked to entertain the home crowd by attackin our bowlers right from the word go..

MOM : Cloete

A good test series overall New zealand winning 2-0

"This is a win for the team as far as I'm concerned. Impressive effort to regroup and finally show some semblance of what we offer. Mr Wright looked like the talented bowler we think he is and Cloete once more proved his class. Blewy should great responsibility in his batting which is what we were looking for. Fine captaincy in the field as well and overall a satisfying result."

A great effort from the whole team, We showed that even though we are down this team has the courage to fight and will never give in.
The series overall was a little dissapointing however there were a fair few good points to come out of it, Things which we can look forward to for the future.
Now we move on to the OD series with our goal set firmly on the World Cup. This side has the talent to win the World Cup and if we get back to the form we showed in the VB Series before the split then we will be a real threat and these kiwis won't know what hit them...

So glad all that hard training has resulted in big time match performance. After talking with Blewy it was decided that I take more of a support role than spearhead and move to first change, a role which I was happy to take and it paid...with more experience I hope to take that spearhead role.

Good effort guys!

Andre Maddocks:

From a selector's point of view, this match was extremely encouraging. Missing 2 key players in Neil Pickup and Mr. Ponting we gambled with the experianced duo of Top_Cat and Luckyeddie and their presence was an important factor in the result. The way they took Mr. Wright under their wings, in particluar, ensured that he could show the potential that has him earmarked for a long career.

While there are still areas for concern with the batting, it was a much improved effort. Congratulations to the captain and vice captain, Blewy and Cloete for their good efforts with the bat. Some more runs from the openers, and a solution at number 7 will allow for the side to develop into one of the best in the world.

Well done.

No, that's not at all what I am saying, but when you reflect on your series, you can't exactly say that you are one of the first picked players in the side. You'll need some stronger performances yto nail your place in the side, as will the opening batsman and support pace bowlers.

Consider yourself lucky you even got the chance to play, when some of us went on tour and didn't ever get the call!

hang on how can u just say that to one certain player, most ppl didnt set the world on fire on tour,

but na just put **** on me thats all good.

well i better not go on the world cup if im not up to your standards, and better not play any one day games against new zealand, as u need to get a quality number 7 batsmen., because on tour the number 7 batsmen was the only player that struggled.
