If there is a lions first class tour it'll be interesting to see which names they come up with. A lot of young openers scoring runs this season in div 1. Jennings, Gubbins, Hameed, Burns and Lees all with 1000 runs. Westley and Northeast in div 2 are both a bit older but haven't been on a lions first class tour and have racked up some massive aggregates over the last couple of years- and look well organised players. Lots of other names also.

Rory Burns has had another solid year, at some point they might want to have a look at him as I've always thought he had the technique. Foakes will be a banker, if it isn't in India tour.

I'm surprised with all the names being thrown around the England team that Gubbins of Middlesex hasn't been mentioned - he's had one hell of a season, you could say better than Hameeds.

Super flat pitch plays into it, but yeah he has kicked on massively this year. Younger than I realised as well.

If i hear a pundit in the next preseason talking up the Bears "strong top order" I will ****ing murder them. But you know the likes of Cork who don't pay any attention will be rattling on about that again. Yep we do have a strong top order in white ball cricket for the most part. But in red ball it has been nothing short of disgusting. I want 3 new batsmen. How about we sign some ****ing foreigner like every other tin pot club does. Somerset barely have an English bloke playing some weeks.
